I heard about the change in ownership of this place and I figured as much as I loved it last summer I'd give it another try and I had a really rough experience the quality of the food has dipped terribly, the service is completely different the old staff was so much more friendly and effective, And they had this god-awful rain covered with fans underneath it that just pounded away and and droned on with terrible sound the entire time. I'd have asked to turn them off if it wouldn't have gotten so ungodly hot in there without them but it was so uncomfortable and poorly planned. I figured that I would let them take some time to iron out the kinks and returned a couple months later and it's still the same issues. Such a shame as this truly was one of my favorite spots last summer.

Great vibe and good comfort food. Often crowded, but that's kinda the vibe.

Wife and I have gone here multiple times but I have no idea how the food is since the people working here refuse to acknowledge you if you aren't a regular.

The bottle shop and larder/butcher shop on either side are super friendly, knowledgeable, and offer excellent service.

First time back since new ownership took over. Updated menu was nice, though still felt overpriced. Nice atmosphere for trivia and appreciated the tent over the outdoor seating too! Had the blt and fries. Blt was good! Menu marketed heirloom tomato and my slice was very thin and definitely seemed more like a standard Roma/beefsteak and lettuce was shredded. I think it would be improved with a leafier green and more tomato. Just some feedback moving forward! I’m sure I’ll be back as it’s a nice neighborhood spot!

Gabi was our server tonight, she was absolutely amazing. Checked up on us, brought everything out in a timely manner, while also waiting on the entire outside patio herself. She was an absolute rockstar, and will be back just for her. Food was good too, sad that the Short Rib Sourdough was 86’d ):

We used to live right by Dutch’s and went frequently. Absolutely loved it especially the burger, which was also a staple of Dutch’s. Just a high quality, grilled on the patio burger. I took my family tonight and just can’t believe how bad the burger was. It was gray, clearly frozen and then steamed, perfectly circular patties. I couldn’t tell you the last time I didn’t finish a burger, but it was that low of quality. The only reason I’m writing this review is because I can’t get it out of my head and am hoping it eventually changes. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I also have never written a review in my life, but that’s how much I loved this place. It was that shocking of an experience.

Dutch’s is amazing. I was there tonight for their 1/2 priced pours for wine. Delicious wine. In my visits to this wonderful establishment, I’ve had the Cuban (amazing), the short rib sandwich (… also amazing), the Reuben, the burger. Their sides are delicious. The Mac n cheese is an absolute must. In fact, they have recently adjusted the recipe and it was incredible. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. The owner, Tom, was incredibly welcoming. He stopped by the table to check on us and was very friendly. We had a reservation for Sotto and chose to come here instead! 10 out of 10. If you haven’t been, you need to add this spot to your list to regularly visit.

Amazing food and cocktails, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere! You can really tell the owners care about quality and customer experience. Adding to one of my spots to eat — highly recommend!

We went tonight after reading a comically over-the-top Reddit thread that included an evil new owner, stealth firings, and big steamboat money. There was a call to arms for the neighborhood to take sides. Clearly many have, and we were tempted to.

We had a soft spot for the old staff, but the vibe had been off for a while. Still, the idea that a nefarious owner swept in and ruined everything was compelling. Surely, we’d visit, see what a sad shell of itself it had become and smear the new owners and business as well.

We tried, if nothing else for the sake of comedy.

What we found was something more boring: a leadership change, some staff turnover following the dismissal of a revered manager, and a restaurant that’s cleaner, more professional, and actively improving. The new owner was actually there, talking to customers. The food came with sides. The charcuterie board is now $15 instead of $50. There’s a drink menu. The sad oak, outdated rustic interior is disappearing.

Plus, the back of house staff is all still there, so the food is still the same.

So: who’s the villain here, exactly? And who benefits from keeping the story alive?

I wish the old staff well.

My husband and I were loyal patrons, eating and drinking at Dutch’s nearly every week. The new ownership fired the employees who were the kindest people and incredibly hard workers. The staff made us feel so welcome and it’s a big reason why we enjoyed coming here. It’s impossible to support the new ownership. They clearly don’t understand what is needed to build a loyal customer base. I’m sure the owner will respond to this review saying “change is hard” but it wouldn’t be hard if he wasn’t such an a-hole.

Such a bummer. We were here a few times a month, regularly brought friends and family in, and loved everything about this place. The Dutch’s brand was all about enjoying some great drinks and food with an attentive and fun staff that you could tell loved their work, their customers, and the community. I can get a sandwich and a beer anywhere in the city, but Dutch’s was just a great hang.

Shame on new ownership for throwing that away, and shame on the past owners for letting this happen.

I live just down the street from Dutch’s and have started frequenting their spot over the past few months! Great place to grab a few drinks and the food is also phenomenal. Noah at the bar is a super star, and the rest of the staff is excellent. Please check it out!

Dutch’s is a quaint spot on Erie Ave. the food is a selection of various food choices. The drink selection is great. Try the espresso martini! I had the butternut squash soup. Noah is such a gem. Great service and value for the price. Will def. Come again.
