Great spot
I literally haven't been here in 15 years. And it is still the same amazing experience. The people, the environment, the anesthetic. Every combination of the English alphabet could not encompass the majesty and mystery of this incredible hole in the wall. Please visit this place. You won't be disappointed. Jay is an incredible caretaker. And the spirit in this building is everything you'll need.

Won’t be back. Was gonna make this a consistent place to visit till the older gentlemen decided to add 2$ more to my already 6.50$ coffee and claim it was because we had a group of over 4 people and for other reasons including.
Lecturing me about being working class, and after I told him I can’t even pay my rent this month, he kept coming at me about making “3$ an hour” and not being able to pay rent either. And added more money to my bill because the rest of our group didn’t tip to his standard.
Mind you one of my friend’s singular order was over 26$ for a tea and a slice of pie.
Disappointed as I enjoyed the environment and drinks and pushed aside the beverage cost. Poor service ruined it for me and my group and I will never recommend this place to anyone again.
Do not waste your time.

I stopped in here late at night while passing through Cincinnati and was really excited to find a coffee shop/bar still open. I loved the atmosphere and the fact that it was open so late.
Unfortunately, the latte I ordered was way too sugary for me and I couldn’t drink it. The syrup completely overpowered the coffee and all I was sipping on was sugar. I appreciate the space and the concept, but the drink itself was disappointing.

We always have a great time here. The patio is such a great spot with the right weather - great coffee, really nice staff, and it's super close to campus. Late night spots around here cannot compete - Highlands is hands down the best. Props to the one guy who was working tonight, he did a great job despite being the only person on staff that night. Nice selection of drinks as well - it can be a study spot or a lowkey place to hang out with friends. The prices are very reasonable, the music selection is great, and it's not too loud. It's not exactly quiet, but you can absolutely talk with no problem. 10/10 would recommend. I personally don't get the hate - we have a great experience every time!

I know that I have been asked to leave after being at Highland for over an hour on busy nights if I was not getting another drink. I came on a less busy night and was there for around 6hrs and got one drink and was left alone as they didn’t need my table for anyone else. Would be happy to have paid the hourly table fee but wasn’t made to as they were less busy and I appreciated that! Thank you for being more flexible on your less busy nights.

Savor a scalding cup of coffee at 2am. because sleep is overrated, and the hours match your insomnia until 2am doesn't work. Let's that be rephrased. Indulge in a steaming cup of coffee after midnight. Open until 2am to ruin your sleep schedule.
Toppers place for a pint of Guiness! Pretty chill and a fantastically friendly owner. Will be back soon!

This was an excellent time. Although we didn't eat the menu was enticing. Service was excellent. Our coffee was superb. My daughter had a strawberry iced latte and although mine was just the bottomless coffee with cream it wasn't overbearing and perfect for a quiet evening of chatting and painting. The vibe is college with a nuance of the rustic age of college years of the past. Great place to play a game of chess, grab a brew or even alcoholic beverages will try at a later date, read and take in the best of Cincy living.

I’ve been coming here for late nights spent catching up with friends for over 25 years (and two owners). It’s *always* had warm, inviting ambiance with an eclectic, vintage aesthetic. The reviews being so dramatically split between 5s and 1s tells the whole story: it’s a vibe and either you get it or you don’t. Check it out for yourself and see if it’s for you!

The long, greasy hair “server” was rude and overcharged our drinks.
We went a few days prior and when it was time to pay, the tablet listed out all the items we had purchased and everything was correct. We then went again, and this time the tablet said “custom” even though we got the exact drinks listed on the menu. Compared to the prior visit, there was about $4-5 more charged than what was expected. Even when only a single drink was bought, we got lectured for not tipping enough even after he up-charged everything.
Besides the owner, our experience with the rest of the employees has been great. It sucks to see such a great place run by such a horrible person.

Surprised to still be reading about the rude service and the owners have yet to do anything about it. Ive had several rude encounters from one of the staff members here. It’s open late which is a huge perk but the poor attitude towards customers needs to change.
