There are only 4 or 5 restaurants I'll give 5 stars to but Au Bar Le Boeuf is definitely one of them. It had been awhile since I was last there but it's just as good as ever. I had the Pot au Feu which came with tender and juicy braised beef, carrots and potatoes in a rich gravy. My friends remarked they had never seen me actually clean my plate, but it was too good not to! the lobster bisque was creamy and delicious as was the signature French onion soup with a perfect blend of cheese and rich onion soup. We also enjoyed the beef tartare. Service was impeccable. Dining here is a treat.

It was just perfect. Our waitress was Emily and she was so hospitable and so sweet and so knowledgeable. My husband asked if we could have a table that was tucked away a bit and quiet. It was a busy week for us and we had not had a moment to really sit down and talk and connect. This provided that opportunity over fantastic food! Thank you so much!

Nice dinner at Le Bar a Bouef a regular favorite of ours. Restaurant was packed which was good to see. Sparking options were very good as was the wine our server paired with our meals. Started with escargot which is best in town along with lobster bisque. It was a little odd there was no lobster in the bisque but it still tasted good. Even had a little spice to is. Mains were lobster mac and cheese which was gigantic and delicious. Seafood bouillabaisse was very good with a lot of seafood. Finally we had the pot au feu which had amazing flavor and was also a good size portion of beef and vegetables. No dessert this time we were too full! Service was ok this visit, seemed a little off but could have been due to how crowded it was and he was dealing with a really demanding (and annoying) table next to us. Didn't impact the evening, just a little off from the normal service here.

Our meal at Bar a Boeuf was wonderful. The food and service were outstanding. It's a cozy French bistro with a good view of the river and Kentucky.

We had great expectations for this place, given the legacy of Jean-Robert (de Cavel). However, it was very disappointing. The first problem was that it was *freezing* where we were seated, and Walter, our server (who was great, overall) just sort of apologized and said there wasn't anything they could do: the fireplace, which was very close by, was not working even though the pilot light was on, and we were subjected to drafts coming down the hall to the entrance (some diners kept their down jackets on for the whole meal). We tried to get used to it but finally asked to be moved and were *much* more comfortable. We started with cocktails (French 75 and martini), which were fine. I ordered French onion soup, which, at a place like this (a French bistro, essentially), should be full of flavor. Instead, it was very bland. My husband ordered the salmon special appetizer, which was amazing (salmon tartare, caviar, quail egg, and creme fraiche). For an entree, i ordered the Duo Duck, which was *really* disappointing. The "duo" was duck confit, which was pretty good, and duck breast, which was the worst part: very tough and extremely "gamey"-tasting. I've had duck breast many times, so it's not like i'm not used to something with more of a taste than, say, chicken. I could not eat more than one bite. The cassoulet beans were bland and unevenly cooked, so that some were hard and some soft. Husband ordered "Return of the Mac", which was the late chef Jean-Robert's take on mac and cheese: fairly refined "mac" (penne) - sauce was nice and fairly light, not gluey like some; a little obscured by all the panko crumbs; he added the duck confit, whose skin was not very crisp. Since i couldn't eat most of my entree, i elected to have dessert (i was afraid i'd be starving by bedtime otherwise!): chocolate pot-de-creme - fantastic! Husband had a glass of sauterne. We would *not go back, unfortunately.

Going to Le Bar A Boeuf is always a treat. From the minute you walk in you are treated with great hospitality and service. Our server was well versed and attentive. Wow, this place was magnificent! Jean-Robert's style of cuisine, atmosphere, service, and view were incredible. We had dinner there with friends on Black Friday, for the first time, and it knocked our socks off. The French onion soup was to die for. The shrimp maisonette was so saucy and delicious. My short rib mac & cheese blew my mind. Needless to say, we all left very full and very happy after a long day of shopping!! Quite the hidden gem in East Walnut Hills. Private parking is available in the garage at Edgecliff Condos. Simply a top-notch experience at this local French restaurant. Would highly recommend checking them out. Yummo 😋.

We had a lovely dinner after cocktails and we shared a bottle of wine. We had the steak special and the beef wellington after escargots. Chef Patrick Building on his new winter menu.

The food itself was okay (not my favorite but at least good quality ingredients) and the service was good but it was WAY overpriced. $14 for a very small cocktail that wasn't that great, over $40 for a small scallop dish that was overly sweet, and $16 to add short ribs to the already $23 penne noodles which were unremarkable. Overall, I left feeling like I wasted my money.

Lobster bisque lacked flavor, too much of the Cantilly cream. Beef Wellington appetizer was a bit tough. Escargot was excellent.

Beautiful eve to sit outside for dinner. Food was really tasty . Server missed a few things I.e. Short Rib on Mac n Cheese .. brought new plate out with really small piece of short rib; tasted great but pricey for the additional charge . Love the place.
