Amazing start for an amazing place. Love Undertone and step upstairs for a delicious fried chicken sandwich and the world's best fries! Hop water on draft! Perfect!

Nice transformation of space, but not worth a return trip. Overpriced, not-great food on a limited menu. Service prompt and friendly but not extraordinary, in the sense of being personal. Felt like eating at a hotel, like we were treated as if just passing through. If I were running a newly opened space, I'd take time to be welcoming and explain the concept, menu, etc.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I can tell from the brief moments I was there , ungreeted, that the environment wasn’t welcoming. The service members seemed very overworked and the atmosphere was severely underwhelming. The bartenders seemed unorganized, not knowing simple drink orders and made every drink with the upmost lackluster possible. As a downtown native for a few years I was more than excited to see the newly renovated Taft’s only to be met with this disappointment of a bar. I would not recommend and will not be returning as I saw a rat on my way out. Please, if you love yourself, you’d stay away. Can’t wait to see what is put up in place of them as they’re guaranteed to shut down within a few months.

Incredible venue with fantastic food and an in-house beer selection. Everything we tried was very tasty, but the star was the squash croquettes! The vibe of Melltone is casual and cool with the service also being excellent. This would be a great spot to take friends or family from out of town to enjoy great food and drinks in a relaxed environment!

A great spot with AMAZING food and fresh beer. Vegetarian and vegan options were available as well! Solid atmosphere and friendly staff! :) All of the beer I tried was solid. The butternut squash soup and Pomegranate sorbet were big hits for me and the family.

Dietary restrictions: Vegan options included butternut squash soup and sorbet for desert.

The space is absolutely gorgeous and is only outshined by the delicious beer and food. The service and music create a relaxed vibe. I’ve been awaiting the opening of Mellotone, since the brewer is one of the best in the country (she’s won gold medals at all the top events) and part of a small group of female brewers.

so, there’s this trend i’m noticing in cinci where everyone is trying to have ā€œelevatedā€ food instead of just normal good food. the burger was pretty good— i don’t usually like american cheese, but it tasted pretty nice here, but the fries weren’t fries— they were basically potato veggie chips. also, my brother ordered a $6 beer and asked for a pint and was given a half pint. there was nothing on the beer list that said they didn’t sell pints. honestly, the servings are kind of small in general.

they stripped a lot of the character out of the building. maybe it’s just nostalgic for me, but if you’re going to have a restaurant inside of a historical church building, maybe keep some of that history in it. that, however, is probably more of a personal opinion.

all in all, the food was okay, the service was fine, but i doubt i’ll go again. there’s plenty of other places that sell american cuisine without having to ā€œnew ageā€ it to make it good. not gonna yuck on anyone’s yum, and hope the business the best, just not at all impressive

Came here 2 nights in a row it was so good. Kolsch beer is nice and refreshing with some really exceptional cocktails as well. Second night tried the pork belly skewers which were an absolute delight. Will come back next time in town!

Great beer, great food, free pool and 2 real dart boards upstairs. 15th St. Hazy IPA is my favorite currently, but an oatmeal stout is coming šŸ»

I had to come check out the new place. I never saw it as Tafts but I love the look. You can tell they put alot of time and money into it. There's a warm glow that I love. The food is amazing. I got the sword fish that came with fegula, which reminded me of a Mediterranean vibes. It was fresh and delicious. The spaghetti squash had butternut squash mixed in which was a great surprise and there was lots of cheese that I loved! Anyway, the olive oil citrus cake is the best I've ever had. I would come back for that alonešŸ’—
