We have driven by so many times and finally checked it out, very good authentic Chicago dogs, deserving of the Gene + Jude reference in namesake. Also, the chili cheese coneys are huge and super tasty, my son immediately proclaimed them better than Skyline. Only letdown was the fries are very plain, literally don't think they even put salt on them, if they do, they should try tripling the amount so it's noticable.
Mr. Gene's has been my favorite place to get coneys and chili cheese fries for years. I always get at least 2 hot chili cheese metts and the chili cheese fries (the Chicago dog is also amazing). The only reason everyone argues over whether or not skyline and gold star is better than one another is because Mr. Gene's is in a way out of their league and has consistently been the best coney place for as long as I've known.

Been eating here for over 40 years since they use to sponsor my little league football team. Love it! My son and I always get the King Size Chili Cheese Mett Combo. The fries are always the perfect texture.
