Seemed to be unready for restaurant week--menu items unavailable, but we had a terrific server, George, who was able to think outside the box, and he made everything right. The food was very good and the substitutions worked out nicely.
Great experience and amazing ambience! Service was great. We will definitely return in the future.
Unacceptable service far outweighs the beautiful surroundings. Entrees were delivered while we were still eating appetizers, so we set them aside to eat our hot food and surprise halfway through eating those, here comes dessert. Server never offered boxes or to clear dirty plates away - just piled it all on the table. We were never offered another round of drinks and our water was never refilled. We felt so rushed but the restaurant was only half full at 7pm on a Friday. After our disappointing experience, I am not surprised. Food was decent, but nothing special. They were out of items (which we were not informed until after ordering it). Band was too loud (esp guitar). We will not be returning except maybe to view the beautiful hotel architecture.
One of the reasons we chose 1931 as one of our Restaurant Week dinners was the pork entree on the menu. When we handed our Restaurant Week menus, we were told that entree was unavailable. Big disappointment. We decided to order from the regular menu. The food was well prepared and good tasting but was not what we really wanted. We also had really been looking forward to the apple cake from the special menu and asked if we could have it instead of a regular menu dessert. We were told that yes we could but then were brought the pear dessert from the regular menu. We did not really like it and felt disrespected.
The drinks were amazing. It was very busy full of fun. People. The decor and ambience is unmatched. service was subpar, the food was delicious, but it seemed like it was sitting in the window for a while
We had visited the brunch buffet at the Netherland many times in the past and were greatly looking forward to this visit with two friends that had never been before; however, the new version was a huge disappointment. More like the Hampton Inn Breakfast versus what it used to be back in the day. We had a reservation at 11:30 and we were able to order one drink each and go through the so-called buffet one time before they tore it down at noon. Very disappointed.
Food and service are good. Buffet is WAY too expensive for what you get. We love this place, but will skip it for breakfast in the future.
Super classy bar inside the Netherlands Plaza. Recommended the NP Wagyu burger

We were frequent visitors to Orchids prior to Covid. This restaurant has been closed for sometime and reopened as 1931. The ambiance is over the top with art deco style. The presence of excellence was missing. It was almost like staff wasn't prepared. The food was good but not excellent for the price.

What can I say other than "Wow". Fine dining at another level of elegance. Shardae, my guide for, was incredibly efficient dealing with several tables simultaneously as if it were easy. The pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon was delicious and the presentation was top notch. Well worth the price.

Incredible Art Deco Restaurant and Lounge
Everything from the appetizers to the entrees, sides, desserts, and cocktails were simple, well-prepared, comforting, and with a little something unique.
There's live music most days of the week, and there's usually a small crowd at the bar before and after games.
Truly a special place. Worth visiting even if you're not staying at The Netherland.

The most romantic dinner I've ever had. The Lewd Lemonade drink was fantastic. French onion soup is delicious, service was excellent, atmosphere is incredible. Try the Strawberry Lychee Cheesecake, it's perfect!
I'll refrain from comparing the restaurant to Orchids. (That would make the review harsher.) It started with a disinterested hostess with a remarkable lack of energy. The waiter began the evening with more energy and performed the early part of the service well. It took almost 20 minutes to get our cocktails from the bar. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were under cooked. The crab cakes were good. I had the schnitzel and my wife had the scallops. We considered both entrees to be good. Nothing was remarkable or noteworthy in flavor or presentation. The service was generally sloppy and everyone seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else. We probably won't return.
Very good, cool place to eat or drink. Food is solid but would go more to drink at the bar because the atmosphere is unique and unlike anything else downtown
