We were frequent visitors to Orchids prior to Covid. This restaurant has been closed for sometime and reopened as 1931. The ambiance is over the top with art deco style. The presence of excellence was missing. It was almost like staff wasn't prepared. The food was good but not excellent for the price.
What can I say other than "Wow". Fine dining at another level of elegance. Shardae, my guide for, was incredibly efficient dealing with several tables simultaneously as if it were easy. The pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon was delicious and the presentation was top notch. Well worth the price.

Incredible Art Deco Restaurant and Lounge
Everything from the appetizers to the entrees, sides, desserts, and cocktails were simple, well-prepared, comforting, and with a little something unique.
There's live music most days of the week, and there's usually a small crowd at the bar before and after games.
Truly a special place. Worth visiting even if you're not staying at The Netherland.

The most romantic dinner I've ever had. The Lewd Lemonade drink was fantastic. French onion soup is delicious, service was excellent, atmosphere is incredible. Try the Strawberry Lychee Cheesecake, it's perfect!
I'll refrain from comparing the restaurant to Orchids. (That would make the review harsher.) It started with a disinterested hostess with a remarkable lack of energy. The waiter began the evening with more energy and performed the early part of the service well. It took almost 20 minutes to get our cocktails from the bar. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were under cooked. The crab cakes were good. I had the schnitzel and my wife had the scallops. We considered both entrees to be good. Nothing was remarkable or noteworthy in flavor or presentation. The service was generally sloppy and everyone seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else. We probably won't return.
Very good, cool place to eat or drink. Food is solid but would go more to drink at the bar because the atmosphere is unique and unlike anything else downtown

This is an extremely dated hotel with a lot of issues that need to be addressed. A lot of waterstains, paint in the bathtub, slow drains during showers, overwhelmed cooling systems that never got below 76 on an extremely warm day and an overall musty smell in every room.

The food was very good but generally slow and overall service quite slow. It took FOREVER to get the bill. The wait staff was nice and friendly. I would recommend a more involved dress code like it was. One diner arrived with a bright orange big link chain around his neck hanging to his waist!!!! I know “times” have changed but one diner had cutoffs on!!!!!! Overall the space seems kind of drab and no Pinochet no flowers. Still nice and will come back.

Our server Mahlet was a delight, and she made me and my out of town guests who were first time visitors to Cincinnati so welcome.Breakfast was delicious, and everyone who assisted us made this a wonderful return visit for me and a great experience for my guests.
The food was mediocre. The service was slow. The room is still stunning, all tho no one was there on a Saturday night. I'd like to remember it as the 5 star place it used to be. So I probably won't go back.
The hotel and room is very cool. We were there on a Friday night and the live Jazz trio was outstanding. That being said our server did seem to be having a rough night, was very pleasant but things like drinks, bread just thoughtfulness you expect out of a restaurant of that quality was a bit lacking. As for the food it was ok. Steak was good, mashed potatoes were interesting they had some type of acidic ingredient in them that made them hard to stomach. The wine I ordered to me was not drinkable. At that price point I expected a little bit better but absolutely would go the bar and hang during live music nights.
Building is historic and an art deco marvel. Service was outstanding, Furniture could use some love, food was okay but for the price there should be more options, real eggs or maybe an omelet station, roast beef was too dry. The food selection was more along the lines of a budget hotel. I understand this a new venture in this location so fingers crossed the kinks get worked out.
Food was just ok but no worse than any other hotel food. Building and room, preserved from the 30s, was very beautiful. Service was mixed - our primary server was kind, attentive and provided good recommendations. Some of the other support team was less well trained.
