Senate is good and has a slightly eclectic menu. The duck fries, tuna poke bowl and garlic parm wings were all very tasty. The location is a little off the beaten path and tucked away in a nice park area.

$72 for a beer, an iced tea, two hot dogs and poutine. Everything was ok, but for $72 with 20% tip, it should be amazing. Service was attentive and the place is nice, but wow, you don't get what you pay for.

I stumbled into this place with some work colleagues when we were working in the area. When we walked in the door, I had no idea what kind of food they served. The menu wasn’t particularly large, but it had some really interesting choices. I’m not a big hot dog person, but there was a broad selection of very unique hot dogs. I ended up choosing the Elote grilled cheese, and we also got some duck fries for the table to share. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the grilled cheese sandwich, but it was outstanding! The fries and dipping sauce were also really good!

The senate never disappoints. I just went for the second time with my mom for her birthday. If you’re a hot dog lover this place is a must, but even if you just love good food with a unique menu you’ll be satisfied. The ambiance and the service were fantastic. The manager especially was great and was chatting with us about the history of summit park! We had the poutine, the trailer park dog, and the bread pudding. I’d never had bread pudding but it was the best dessert I had eaten in a while. We should do our best to keep this place going :)

We came here for the atmosphere, and because I really liked the look of the specialty cocktails, and we were not disappointed. My Gyro was delicious and the thick cut fries with truffle oil were phenomenal. Probably the best fries I’ve ever had, hands-down. My husband had the Pikachu hot dog, and while it was good, he felt like he was still just eating a hot dog and he would get something different next time. We were both a little confused by the hot dog theme, because the restaurant seems more upscale than that. My pretty purple cocktail was the perfect balance of herbal and sweet, and our crispy wonton appetizer was full of flavor. The bread pudding that we had for dessert was crazy good— I posted a picture of our empty plate.
The staff was kind, attentive, and very responsive to our questions and requests.
And, the general manager worked the floor and checked in with us about our experience. I cannot remember the last time that upper management checked on us at our table during our meal. We were very impressed by this attention.
The only note I have is that the surface of our table was a little tacky, and while it made for a great non-skid surface so my drink didn’t slide around, it just felt like it could do with a a bit of refurbishment. A little elbow grease, 0000 steel wool, and tung oil might renew the beautiful wood to its original lustre. The restaurant has a lovely color palette, and the fact that the kitchen was open speaks to a high degree of professionalism.

Must try! The duck fat fries are really good. Totally forgot to picture of my phone because it was that good. Orderd the Gyro and it was enough to share, very flavorful and filling. Wings were good we all have two wings, really. God flavor. No one at the table complained about anything they ordered.

The price for the food was ok. It seemed overly pricey to spent $12/13 on three chicken nuggets and fries for kids. There wasn’t even a lot of food. I was expecting overpriced hot dogs but not overpriced basic kids food. The beet salad was really good and they knew how to make a margarita which helped.

We were there on a very hot Saturday and needed to cool down in the A/C and have a refreshing dish. The tuna poke bowl was the perfect choice. We loved all of the ingredients and how they worked together. Thanks to our very cheerful and knowledgeable server, she brought a bigger bowl for us to dump the dish into so we could eat it without it falling out of the original bowl. Why, then, hasn't this been remedied if she keeps having to bring extra bowls to people? Also, we did have to ask for more sauce as there was not enough sauce on the bowl. And there could have been a bit more tuna so you could enjoy a morsel in every bite. The place has a cool vibe and an open kitchen. We will return to try other dishes. We have had their hotdogs, but that was before Covid and before I started reviewing restaurants. I remember them being of high quality and tasty.
