I ordered the twice cooked pork lunch special. The pork was basically unsmoked bacon that was 80% fat, absolutely disgusting! . It had a little bit of a funky flavor as well. I also had the $10.99 Sichuan cold noodles. It was basically noodles drenched with hot chili oil, terrible. I have eaten all over Asia and have eaten in some great Chinese restaurants when I lived in NYC, so I have a pretty good idea of what good Chinese food should taste like. Low quality ingredients and bad preparation was the main theme with these dishes!! Regardless good food is good food and in my opinion , it was overpriced in terribly disappointing.

Gotta check the spicy level of any dish you order.
Otherwise, their dish taste good and smells good too. I ordered a soup dish for takeout and the container leaked because the soup is too hot and there is no cardboard beneath. I ended up ordering some else instead. The atmosphere is not super but is clean as an ordinary restaurant.

delicious
We've been to this restaurant three times, and it's really a fantastic place to enjoy delicious dishes! The food is tasty, the portions are generous, and the prices are affordable. The staff are warm, friendly, and very approachable, making us feel right at home!

Very great food, and equally as awesome customer service. Orange chicken was delicious! The young man and woman serving were very friendly and attentive. Who I believe is an owner even came to the table and asked my thoughts on the orange chicken I had, and for any improvements I could think of. I admire a business looking to improve and for feedback. That's why I say 5 stars!

The original chef when they opened has retired and there is a new chef who is simply not as good. He seems to like to add sugar and dishes that never seemed Sweet now taste of sugar. Portions seemed to have diminished as well yet they have raised prices 1 to $2 per entree. That's understandable giving the economic situation. Given the price increases in the loss of quality of the original food, I doubt I'll be back with any of the frequency with which I used to visit which was once a week for the last year or so.
Excellent authentic restaurant. Even gives out chocolate fortune cookies 🥠.
From the angle of someone from China, the Suancaiyu is far worse than expected. If you live nearby, you can have a try with your friends. It did not worth a special trip to this restaurant. Moreover, parking your car is very difficult in rush hours, you need to drive a quater miles (maybe more) away to find a parking space, and still need to pay to park.
Truly a hidden gem of Clifton. Amazing quality, super tasty, and really, really nice people. Worth every penny when you go. Portions are large, even for take out. Will definitely be back.
