The price is way too high and for the most part professors and the curriculum are not military-friendly. Was deployed with no internet connection and got penalized even after communicating.

If you live in Ohio, and just want a degree, then this is an acceptable school. It is DEFINITELY not worth paying out of state tuition for. If you are paying in state tuition, it is a bit more acceptable because many of the courses are now asynchronous. That means undergraduates are mainly educating themselves. A lot of the courses in the catalogue are actually never offered. My son has now been at the school for 4 years and every semester has tried to sign up for some of the courses he found interesting, and every single semester they weren't offered. Basically, if a course isn't available for 4 years, it should be be taken off the books. I wish that we had known that the school didn't value contact hours directly with faculty before my son selected this school.

My alma mater. This place has grown up and is a great place for many degrees. Sports has become more of a national competitor. Ohhhh, ohhhhh, UC!

This is where I currently attend for my undergraduate and masters degrees. I am in my final year. There are a variety of reasons I decided to rate the university the way I did. On a positive note, the university of Cincinnati has a campus that is stunning with a variety of architectures from classical to modern and everything in between but somehow it works well. The campus feels like a small city since the population on west (main) campus is so large on about a square mile campus. Around campus is burnet woods which is a medium sized park and on the other side of burnet woods is downtown Clifton which has a graeters, movie theater, stores, boutiques and bars. All within walking distance. On the other side of campus are two parks within walking distance Fairview and Bellevue park. All of these parks are something that allow for students to get off campus and relax. Besides the parks Calhoun street and short vine both have bars, stores, restaurants, music venues and more and are right across the street from campus. The surrounding area has a ton of amenities.Regarding the academics of the school. I am provided with three different advisors for academic undergraduate, co-op and academic graduate. My undergrad advisor changes frequently which means they never know everything they need to know. Thankfully I always have been able to find someone who knows an answer to my question. I have had some bad experiences where an advisor was forceful and rude that I couldn't do something when I knew that I could and did end up doing the thing they told me I couldn't. Making sure to read the handbook for your program can be helpful in this way. Overall, most of my advisors have been excellent besides that hiccup.Research is something that is emphasized at the school and is heavily funded. This allows for a lot of opportunities in a variety of research labs. Co-op is something that is required of a lot of students and is something that UC is know for. This allows students to get off campus work experiences that look really good on resumes but also provide students with skills they need to perform well in industry or wherever they plan to go after school. The most negative thing about the school is safety. Although it is a lot better than it has been in the past (from what I have heard) there is always some sort of safety concern. Luckily UC has its own police department and is quick to respond to all of the help poles around campus but in the surrounding area there are places that should be avoided at night. I have heard of people being stood up. For safety and my advisor situation I took off a star. Besides those experiences I have loved the university and all the experiences it has to offer. It is located right near downtown Cincinnati and has shuttles that can take you downtown. It also always has something going on whether that be sports games, festivals, or other student led activities. Something is always going on.

In 2019 I transferred over from Sinclair community college. They took the majority of my classes and put it into my courses so I didn't have to take as many. I believe that my experience may have been a little bit different and how they at had me take classes because I was on a post 9/11 G.I. Bill and to get the full benefits you would have to be full-time.For my early childhood education program it has been a decent experience. The only issues that I have really ran into since coming things that could've been slightly avoided. The first issue that I had is that they required to get into the ECE program that you had a certain score on your Praxis.I am probably one of the worst test takers in the world and I failed the reading about three different times. That caused me to be pushed back a year which was almost in my favor because I was grandfathered into the K through fifth grade program that they just recently changed. The test was so bad that I steal to this day have not passed it but since I failed by two points I just got wavered into the program anyways since there was not that many people enrolled because of Covid. For the updated K through fifth grade program initially we believed that we were going to be student teaching in a fourth or fifth grade classroom. This semester they made us do tutoring in either bearcat buddies or junior achievements with a couple assignments that don't really help explain anything I didn't already know. It wasn't an awful experience but I don't believe that I'm fully prepared to teach in the fourth or fifth grade classroom. The other issue that I eventually ran into is when I did get transferred over into the new set of classes my academic advisor (that changes multiple times throughout the year) failed to update my course plan. I eventually realize halfway through this semester when everyone was talking about a Disney class that they were taking for a fine arts credit and I had no idea what they were talking about.I eventually emailed my advisor asking what it was about and they said that they are going to add me into the class for the next semester. Now the time has come and I'm taking 17 credit hours. It's not too bad but I also have two part-time jobs that I do on the side as well. Needless to say I don't have much free time or sleep. What keeps me going is the wonderful classmates and supportive teachers !! Although my schooling experience has been completely crazy I have always had someone to help me throughout the way and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Very disappointed that I had an academic advisor for one semester, who told me ALL kinds of wrong information, who then left or more likely removed for lying, and no one else was assigned. I was told they had an online master program in my field, which was a lie, and they gave me a plan of courses to take which would force me to take an entire year off between bachelors and masters program. I don't think the school shows any real interest in the students, only in their tuition. I'm disabled and have letters from medical health professionals that the student accommodations office is refusing to put into my accommodations letter. So if it's your race or sexual identity you're the spotlight bit if you're disabled and going to flunk classes even with documentation from your psychiatrist, they blow you off because you're not making them headlines.

This university employs some shady billing practices and when you question it.. they pile on more fees equatable to 50% of the principal balance. You are helpless to fight it as they have the state of Ohio behind them and will garnish your wages, tax returns everything. Then when they have done all that.. they will pile on more fees to keep your balance active so they can repeat this process. You should borrow money from a loan shark, they will give better rates than the financial aid office.
