I'm so glad the Reef Top is now OPEN at NOON on Friday & Saturday!! I have been missing lunch at the Pelican Reef so I'm thrilled to know I can have the same lunch menu at the Reef Top. There are only a couple of items (pasta, crab legs) the Reef Top does not offer, but that still leaves a lot of menu choices. Friday's lunch (no wait) was shared calamari & fried oysters, then ceasar salad and clam chowder. YUMMY!

Always a great time and a delicious meal at the Reef Top! Bartenders and servers are friendly and service is excellent. There’s lots of favorites on the menu, but the specials always have something for everyone. The Ahi Tuna special last night was amazing with Hawaiian sushi grade tuna, shiitake mushrooms, wasabi soy reduction, and siracha aioli with a crispy and tender rice cake. Yum!

The fish was terrible. The fish was like a cheap Kroger frozen off brand of fish. The portion size was so small! Their fried oysters were so greasy that the breading would not stay on the oysters.
Food they provide is delicious.

One of the best places to hang out with family and friends ,

The breakdown is soups are a 5, fish is a 4 and the Caesar salad is a 3. Service was decent but slowed to a crawl at the end. We will definitely be back as prices were very reasonable for the quality seafood they serve.
Just love it

We enjoy this over the main restaurant downstairs as it's quieter but does have a more limited menu
Man, was hoping for a good relaunch. Very disappointed. If you are going to have a relaunch, at least have the staff to accommodate it.Our poor server said she was the only one there. I saw plenty of “help”, but it took some time to get our order. It started off by me walking up the stairs to the Reeftop and seeing a cook smoking at the top of the stairs by the grill.I’m glad that I met my party there so I didn’t have to wait. We ordered a bucket of beer (5) . Not bad at $10.Waited for server for about 1/2 hour. Finally took our order.1 Hawaiian pizza. Very good1 order of wings ( looked like the wing portions you get from Walmart)1 Fried Cod sandwich ( significant price increase) no price on menu, had to ask.1 calamari. Excellent as always1 peel and eat shrimp. Ok sauce was good1 cup of gumbo (think it was sitting around since noon)1 bucket wasn’t enough so I ordered anextra one, 1/2 later after finished eating it arrived.Been going to Pelican’s Reef for 20+ years and the Reeftop since opening.I really hope that things can change back for the better, but for now, sayanara. There are plenty of places to eat along Beechmont, but I like that I can walk to the reef. If The old owner takes it over again, and reviews pickup, maybe one last chance. As for now there are alternatives.Lastly, it was hot, fans not going, and exceptionally loud. The country music doesn’t fit the vibe. Cmon man play some Buffet. We were there for 2 hrs.
We have lived in the area for 28 years, and there is no restaurant we have been to more frequently than the Reef. We always marveled at the consistency of the quality and the great service. We even have had some family events there, as it is always a hit with everyone. Unfortunately, both seem to have taken a hit since the new ownership took over. None of the long -time servers seem to have stayed, so we don't recognize anyone when we go now. Not that that is an issue in and of itself. The bigger issue is how long it takes to get your orders now. Service was so orchestrated and crisp before, at times I had to slow things down. Now we sit and wait, and wait, and wait. They say its because they can't staff up the kitchen, and no doubt there is some truth in that, but still.... I have also detected a noticeable change in the quality. One thing we always order is their fried calamari. In so many places calamari is not fresh, and "chewy". The Reef's has always been the best we have ever had. Always tender and crisp. The last time we ordered it is the first time it has ever had that rubber band texture. The broiled fish I ordered clearly said "two pieces", but there was only one on the plate, so I had to ask for the rest of the order. We never had issues like this with the former owners. It is a huge disappointment to find a place we have enjoyed so much over a long period of time, seems to be in decline.
