Such a beautiful venue. Austin, our server was perfect. Also, the bar manager was always in the background making sure that extra service was provided.
Excellent, thoughtful service, tasty food, solid drinks and a wonderful view of the city made the night perfect
From start to finish, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. At arrival, we were told that if we wanted to sit outside, it would be a wait, but we could be seated inside immediately. I didn't have the option to choose inside or outside when I made the reservation, so we chose inside because we didn't want to wait. The first thing I noticed when we sat down was the end of the bar was full of dirty bare ware. As the evening went on, server after server contributed to the pile. We were not greeted by anyone for a good 15 minutes and finally our server came over to give us water. It was really all down hill from there. I ordered a espresso martini, my friend ordered wine, another person ordered a coke, and my husband asked for a bourbon list. All the drinks came out separately and the guys ordered their bourbon, on a single big ice cube. We watched the bartender pour the bourbon and then it sat for a good 20 minutes, enough time that my friend went up to the bar, grabbed the water and refilled our table. We still didn't order any food. We finally got the bourbon and were able to order, by this time we had been at our table an hour. When they brought the salad, the forgot one. Then the food came out, one plate at a time. And some of the sides never came out. We had to flag our server over to let him know. From that point we never saw him again, unless we waved him over. We didn't bother asking for boxes, we had to ask for the bill and every time we saw our server he looked like he was having a anxiety attack. It literally was the worst service I have ever had. Assuming the were short staffed, but nobody said anything or apologized. I did not see a manager anywhere. It was a hot mess. Food was decent. Not spectacular, just ok. Never even got to see the view, we were so irritated and just wanted to leave. It was also hard to find, we had to ask the parking attendant.
Visited after seeing the special menu for restaurant week, the food was excellent. The service was excellent. The view is spectacular!
Our table of 4 was sat right at our reservation time, a table outside with a beautiful view. Restaurant was packed; however, service was quick! Food was delicious as well as our mixed drinks. We had the mussels, apple & walnut salad, salmon entree, chicken & risotto dish, the NY strip, broccoli with goat cheese. Loved it!! We will be back. If you're not eating - there are a few tables outside with fire pits to sit & have drinks. There also cute lounge tables inside to sit & have drinks.
I had high hopes for Shires but it feel short on service and food. We came to try during restaurant week and loved the atmosphere and ambience, our first course was good but went downhill from there. Unfortunately, our server didn't ask how things were and should have been a clue when asked if we all wanted boxes and we declined but had barely touched our entrées. We all had something different and all felt that the entrées, lacked flavor and were overcooked. We waited a really long time for the last course as well. Overall disappointed in our experience.
We dined during restaurant week. Elizabeth was just phenomenal in every way with offering recommendations and anticipating needs. The last time I was there, the Beef Wellington Butes were sold out. They did not disappoint! Crispy delicate phyllo, earthy mushroom and rich meat in every bite. The NY strip was well trimmed, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Lots of flavor. Lived the sauce on the broccolini! Must try the Cinnamon Toast Crunch crème brûlée! Light and completely nostalgic. We had a wonderful time.
The rooftop restaurant is lovely and the weather was perfect. We were celebrating our 10th Anniversary and it was great!
Seated right away by a sweet, pleasant hostess. Waitress was prompt and professional. She checked back regularly, made sure water was filled and was friendly. Wine was in a nice size goblet and the food was outstanding!
Shires is always a treat. Preparing for the Bengals game with a rooftop brunch was excellent!

Spectacular service. Incredible rooftop seating. Awesome service. One doesn't go to this restaurant for value. They go for quality
First time visiting Shire's. Beautiful property in the heart of all things Cincinnati. The wait staff was very accommodating when we arrived late due to the insufferable I-75 traffic. The Josper Wood Fired Oven adds the unique touch to the meal, both in flavor and texture. The crispy hot broccoli was amazing! Will definitely return soon.
No outdoor table was available although I had reservations (online choices are not accurate). Our drinks took forever to arrive after the server said, “the whole order was lost.” They appeared to be short staffed, but not incredibly busy. We waited a long time for food. The flatbread was soggy, the pasta super oily. The view and ambiance is always good, but I have had a better experience here before.
Service and food were excellent. Relaxing atmosphere. Acoustics allowed us to have a quiet conversation which is unique in today's restaurants. We definitely will be back.
I made a reservation here for 10 and had one of my friends show up early and she was sitting at the bar waiting, as she was waiting several people passed her behind the bar and nobody acknowledged her or greeted her, so she moved to the other side where it seemed the service was. When she interacted with the bartender, he was rude and mentioned that she should've stayed where she was on the other side of the bar. The general vibe was that the servers didn't want to be there, there was a table that stormed off because it took so long just to get some drinks. By the time food arrived, we needed more drinks, by the time we were done eating the drinks never arrived, so we cancelled them and decided to go somewhere else. It was such a disappointing birthday dinner that I was so excited for and it was a lot of people's first time being there. Food was delicious, but if you can't have a glass of wine with your $70 meal, then it's not even worth it.
