I'm so glad Banter reopened. I love the varieties of the poutine selections. Even when you think the combination is too exotic to work it still does.

We had visited the location in Van Aken but this is closer to home and we had been wanting to go for awhile. I am so happy that we did! We sat in front near the bar thankfully since it seemed a little quieter there than the back. Although the atmosphere was comfortable regardless. Our server was friendly and helped us make some great choices on food and cocktails. We shared the Banter salad, Cleveland sausage and when pigs fly poutine. That salad is delicious and I am pretty sure I keep craving it. Both the sausage and poutine were delicious and flavorful as well. I know we had desert and very interesting aperitif but I can't seem to find pictures or menu listings for what we had! But it was all delicious. Can't wait to visit again and try new things.

Missed this place after the west side location shut down a few years. So glad they're back. Have never had a less-than-stellar meal here. The poutine is god-tier and their specials rock as well (their perch sandwich during lent is amazing).

Stopped in for a 'Polish Boy' to go. Being an out-of-towner, I'd never tried a Polish Boy from anywhere before, so while I have no frame of reference for comparison, I can honestly say that it was one of the most delicious sandwiches (if it can really be called that) I've ever had. Now I've got to try some other places to see how they stack up, but I feel like Banter has set that bar very high. The friendly staff had me out the door in under ten minutes. Great job all around. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It feels so good to be home! I’m so glad Banter is back in Gordon Square. Service on a Saturday was speedy and attentive, the Lent special lobster poutine was immaculate.

If you are a fan a poutine, the Canadian version of loaded French fries, this is definitely the place. There are other menu items, but the feature is upscale poutine. Most orders come in full and 1/2 sizes which is nice, and I thought the prices were very reasonable. I ordered the Chicken Paprikash poutine and it was very good and the Paprikash was not overpowering. The roasted Brussel Sprouts were some of the best I’ve had. The portion sizes were generous. I normally finish a meal, but I brought about a 1/3 home with me. It is a very stylish place and the wait staff was friendly and very attentive.

Always a wonderful time at Banter! The new location is stunning and the vibes are immaculate. Everything was perfect- our server was so much fun and accommodating to our needs, the space was cozy and fresh, and the food was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back and try the lobster corndog! We also took a bottle of natural wine home, but it was hard to decide which one, they have so many!Vegetarian options: The entire starter section is vegetarian- fried cheese curds, Brussels sprouts, pierogies, banter salad and beets n burrata. They also have a veggie sausage that has its own presentation as well as could be substituted for the other sausage preparation. Veggie burger available for the Burger. Also 2 vegetarian poutine options, as well as a veggie corndog.Dietary restrictions: Menu mentioned gluten free and vegan buns for the sausages, as well as substituting tofu for cheese curds on the poutines. Also says they do not have a dedicated gluten free fryer.Parking: Free parking on both sides of Detroit. We parked on Tillman, the street just north of Detroit, and walked up a little sidewalk shortcut inbetween Spice Kitchen and the apartment building.Kid-friendliness: Lots of families with littles in high chairs while we were there. Menu seems perfect for kids- fries, pierogies, cheese burger, corndogs, and poutine of course.Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp to a patio door entrance in between them and the apartments next door.
