I grew up on W. 44th between Lorain and Clark. I left Cleveland in 83 for the USArmy. I visit siblings every 3 months. I made my 1st visit on 16 March 25 with my nephew. I met Boris and his wife. They are wonderful and welcomed us. The Heffeweisen and pretzel were delicious! It took me back to Schweinfurt, Germany 1985. I bought a baguette and REAL liver wurst. Thank you so much. I will try some schnitzel and other menus items on my next visit from Lexington, Kentucky.
I stopped in to get a beer. The beer was amazing. It's a shame that the place isn't packed because it should be. Please come check this place out
Absolutely delicious! Looking forward to going back and trying more! We tried appetizers this visit! We had the pretzels and Reuben spring rolls.
An amazing place. Bartender was fun and professional. German beers were the best I've had in a while. Food is fantastic. Atmosphere has loads of light and very clean. Great experience.
The Kolch beer and food was fantastic
Award winning German beers! Fantastic beers for any time of day. The guy who makes is a great character
ALL the beers are extremely well made. I’m so glad I came here. As a National rank BJCP judge, I couldn’t be more pleased. You can’t go wrong with any of these beers. Prost!
P.S. Food is delicious too.
Loved everything! Potato pancakes to the burger. Beer was excellent!
Phenomenal German and Austrian style beers. Boris is a true character in every sense, and makes each visit truly amazing. 6/5 Stars.
Best schnitzel and potato pancakes in Cleveland ? the sausage platter was deliiiiiiiiish. Awesome beer garden. Boris & Suzy are the absolute best. It’s always a fave neighborhood getaway — like mini vacay to Slovenia or Germany #win Love their Kolsh or Pilsner in summer — the schwarzbier in fall/winter ??

Food was beyond excellent, and the owner has a wonderful personality. stopped by to socialize, but still gave the table privacy in just the right balance. Always looking to insure you are having a good time.
Some of the best food I've had in a long time and even better beer. One of my top 3 places in ohio!
Ever been kicked in the mouth by greatness? Stop into Hansa for great beer and traditional German food. The most polite staff of any brewery I've ever been to will greet you at the door and help you to the seating section. Each had a very nice center piece and the natural light made for a very relaxing dinner. I got the rack of lamb. If you have ever had bad lamb, you might be going, "hey man, I don't know about that.". Forget what you thought about lamb. Incredibly tender. Perfect seasoning. An assortment of great veggies to compliment it. Absolutely delicious. Want more traditional German food? Quit freaking out for a second and let me tell you, they had Schnitzel, they had Spätzle, they had the softest pretzels you've ever had in your life.
Reader beware: you might have an insatiable urge to visit Germany after dining here. So start saving money for your next trip, cause this authentic German experience just might start a new chapter in your life
This is how this restaurant could be much better, but first of all, what attracted me to the restaurant and brewery was the menu. The German style beers looked appealing and the food was not only German, but Hungarian and Slavic. I can't pass up a good goulash, so my wife and I order the goulash and chicken paprikas. This had to be the worse excuses for these dishes I've ever eaten. There was absolutely no paprika in the goulash, and the gravy was thin and watery. The chicken paprikas, in all fairness had some paprika sprinkled around the edge of the plate. What I did to salvage the dish was to go next door to buy a small jar of paprika paste and I dumped half of it in when I took almost the entire dish home and it was tolerable. I would recommend the various Slavic sausages; the restaurant shouldn't be able to ruin them. While the beers were expectable, there was no head. This place has a lot of potential with a great location and wonderful spaces indoors and outdoors. They'll do well if they can get some fizz in the beer and greatly improve the Hungarian dishes.
This is an exceptional local brewery. The barmaid was very polite and professional. My kolsch was delicious. Very clean and well lit. It feels truly European.
