I'll start by saying my wife and my dinner was good, however it did not live up to our expectations or the hype of this restaurant. The other couple we came with had an extremely disappointing experience. The gentleman had ordered the lamb chops and they basically came out looking like overcooked, Kentucky Fried chicken, very thin, very greasy, and not at all edible. He left them on his plate, barely touched, and no attempt was made to compensate. With regard to his wife, she happens to be gluten-free and ask for gluten-free alternatives. How a restaurant in this day and age cannot serve at least one gluten-free pasta dish is a mystery to me. This isn't some bizarre ailment. This isn't new, yet this restaurant does not even offer an option. When she ordered her entrée, the waiter made absolutely no attempt to work around her dietary needs. Maybe suggesting that they pan fry the walleye instead of bread it before bringing it out. Needless to say she didn't have any meal because of the lack of attention of the waiter or the willingness perhaps of the kitchen staff to accommodate somebody with a special dietary need. The overall experience, not great. I doubt we will ever visit this place again. Thank you.
Fantastic experience. The food and wine were great. Our waiter was excellent. I highly recommend Johnny's.
Absolutely wonderful, everything was great, will be back, Matthew our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and very prompt.
this may be the last time we take the time and trouble to go to Johnnys Downtown reasons 1# downtown Cleveland really tore up now no parking had to pay 15 times 3 for 3 cars 45 dollars to park for 6 people 2#bartender needs training all Drinks were the worst i've had in years not good for a place like this, watered down on top of the poor mixture with chipped ice just unprofessional . could be i was comparing to a place we stopped in Lexington KY the drinks so good i would drive 3.5 hours back to have another 3# food very average must have changed chef or they just quit caring . 4# deserts were very good ,great choices and very well made and tasteful 5# service outstanding ,took pride in his job well noted
Food was excellent, the escargo was a little to earthy, dirt taste to them more than I am used too. Veal Parm was out of this world and so was the potato grouper. Highly recommend this place.
We had walleye and veal medallions. Entrees were bland and under seasoned. Green beans were overcooked. Told us espresso machine was broken and served us burned coffee. Overall disappointing experience.
Food and service from Noah was amazing. We had a great time for dinner and it was our first time for most of us.
Lovely little restaurant. Staff is great! Service was ok. But The food was just disappointing. Not good. Won't go back.
Crab & bisque appetizers, veal steak & veal pasta entrees, and black (red?) velvet cheesecake dessert were the stars of our evening. The Ambience and quiet noise level made it comfortable and easy to converse. Service did not make us feel rushed. Other menu choices will have us looking to return.
We went to Johnny’s on a Friday night at 5 specifically to sit at the bar. The bartender was clearly high on something, asked out drink orders 3 times, spilled my husband’s beer, accidentally ordered 2 portions of frog legs without apologizing , used profanity with other employees and patrons and joked inappropriately. The food was average, we only had appetizers and my mozzarella was room temperature at best. We will not be returning.

This restaurant is going down and nobody is going to save it.
Since our last visit about a year ago everything has changed not in a good way.
Food taste and presentación was horrible, waiters and waitress look like they got up and went to work right away.
It was loud land messy, a drunk guy was screaming and finally he couldn’t stay up and fell to the floor very close to our table.

We had a lovely evening. We started in the dining room and then realized there was a pianist playing and singing in the bar, so asked to be moved over. It was no problem and our server took care of us in the lounge while we listened to some great music.
We had reservations before a concert. We told the server we were on our way to the concert she blew us off, saying everyone was. We waited an hour before we received our bottle of wine or any food. We watched as other server tables received their food and complained to the server that we needed to get our food expedited. We complained to the manager he went and checked told us 5 minutes but we still did not get food for another 15 minutes. We ended up having 15 minutes to eat our meals and had to ask for the bill when our entrees were served. My meal tasted ok but looked terrible, bland and soupy. The manager never came to our table and we were not even offered a discount. The server said she would have offered us dessert but we had to go. We won't be back to the downtown location.
