I don’t usually write reviews, yet came for Valentine’s Day and it was a very mediocre experience. The hostess and what I presume was the manger there were extremely kind. Yet our waitress had to have been the rudest waitress I’ve met. We had said that we understood because it was packed and busy, yet even with us being patient she grumbled and mumbled to herself the whole time. She was an older women and I’m sure she was tired but it was extremely bad service. We also wanted to buy a bottle but were told it was only by the cup. The food was alright nothing to be excited about. At the end of the night we had wished we went somewhere else.

It was a great dining experience. It was a Thursday night and the entertainment and guests singers were great.
We arrived with a 7:30 reservations which was clearly not warranted, the restaurant was empty. One table of 8 and there was someone playing a piano at the bar. For only being the second table, we waited about 8 minutes before a server arrived. Our server was entertaining at best. Knew very little about the menu, but a delight to chat with. When we asked for the specials, he plain forgot, twice. Menu was simple, and the overall ambiance was ok. When the piano man stopped, it was weirdly quiet and then at one point AeroSmith was playing on the radio. Two of us ordered the Johnny's Old Fashion, and it tasted odd and terrible, the cherry was muddled and had just a chunk of orange. Our food arrived, and everything was in heavy cream sauces. I had the walleye piccata and it had about 4 capers and the side was scalloped potatoes, everything had little flavor. One other ordered the puffy filet and lobster, which was good, but it also came with the creamy scalloped potatoes. We ordered dessert to go and got out of there. We were so disappointed as it was a girls night out for my friend's 45th. (No one even mentioned that and I put it in our reservation). We felt all dressed up with no where to go. I hope out server is ok he seemed to have a lot of health issues which he blamed for not remembering anything... For being a former shinning star, we were so disappointed and would not return. I would not recommend and actually steer people from going. We spent the whole dinner trying to justify why it was so disappointing, but in the end we just took it as a loss and moved on...
We had an enjoyable lunch at Johnnys celebrating my sister’s birthday. Atmosphere was warm and cozy, and our Filets were delectable, cooked to perfection! We plan to return to celebrate another occasion.

Our first visit back in decades was nice. Appreciated the fresh flowers on the table and the live piano music. We all enjoyed our food. I was thrilled to see soft shell crab and duck breast on the same menu!
I have been going to Johnnys for 30 years and last night was the first time I noticed how old the place is getting. Not only does it need a bit of a face lift but the service was lacking. Out of the first champagne we asked for (not really biggie) no mint for the drinks... little things missing in fine dining experience The food was good but not that meal that has you thinking about it the next morning. Bartender was pleasant
This place wasn’t horrible but was disappointing overall. On our first visit, we were promptly turned away and told the kitchen was closed. About a month later, we came back in at around the same time (on a weeknight) and after waiting probably 3-5 minutes just for someone to greet us, were seated without issue, which made the first experience feel strange in hindsight.
During our second visit, the service still felt unwelcoming, particularly toward my friend who was treated noticeably differently without any clear reason. Don’t want to assume it has anything to do with race, but whatever it was, it definitely affected our comfort level and overall experience.
We were expecting something more upscale, but the atmosphere was very loud with noisy drunks. The bathrooms were quite dirty. The food itself was decent but nothing to go out of the way for. The fried mozzarella was frozen, not fresh, so the cheese inside was cold and hard. They do have some unique entrée options which were the best parts of the meal.
This place was recommended to me, but I later found out the recommendation was actually for Johnny’s on Fulton, not this downtown establishment. Unfortunately, this experience just didn’t live up to expectations.

We had an amazing experience. Our waitress was phenomenal. The food was amazing and the gentleman on the piano was a blast! We will be back!

Food was good, but not GREAT for the high prices. The petit filet and large filet were essentially the same size and the overall presentation was not on par with most steakhouses
Our server had the presence of mind to take our order (2 of us) before the table of 8 next to us. It was overall a very nice experience.
This was my first time dining at Johnny's, and we won't be back. I heard such good things about it over the years and from our experience, it has gone down hill. Our server was terribly cold. Zero effort. Had to ask for specials, ask her not to take the wine glass I wasn't finished with, etc. Bar needs some help- no one liked their old fashions. Good wine list, at a certain price point you expect the server to refill your glass, she didn't. Credit card service charge. Just booo all around.
Your valet parking says to people that he doesn't give a shit. What a badass service.

It was a Monday night and perhaps the A team was somewhere else. Much of the food was reasonably good. However risotto served with braised short ribs was undercooked. Risotto *should* be served al dente. This was crunchy, not al dente. I mentioned it to the waitress who frankly couldn't have cared less. No offer to bring a replacement portion of properly prepared risotto. No problem. I didn't make an issue of it but no one in our party will ever return. At Johnny's prices competently prepared food and professional waitstaff should be a given.
