I last came to Larder years ago back in 2018 or so and getting the Tuesday lunch special - $5 Chicken Sandwiches. I remember it being the best fried chicken sandwich I had ever had in my life - huge juicy thigh meat covered in a crunchy doubled fried exterior. Since then, Larder has been winning awards left and right. Since we were visiting Cleveland, I was so excited to visit Larder again and get their delicious sandwich. Unfortunately we came on a bad day - the previous night, a severe thunderstorm had knocked out the fryer and vents and Larder had to remove all of their fried items from the menu. They also were having oven troubles, so they ended up opening 30 minutes late. We got there over 30 minutes before they opened and a line of people started forming already. Pastrami Reuben ($18) - This is not your typical pastrami; this is thick, 1 cm cut savory salty pastrami, cut kind of like corned beef. The bark is still attached which is soft in some portions but crisp in others. ??? skome flavor??The meat is super tender and easy to eat. There's a thin layer of flavorful fat in some areas. There's cabbage slaw added on the bottom which adds a nice tang to balance out the fatty and meat of the pastrami. Thousand island spread on the top and bottom slices of bread adds additional moisture and sweetness. Everything is placed in the middle of two perfectly toasted slices of rye. Babka ($9) - Absolutely chock full of chocolate, the bread is pretty dense and rich. Pieces of crumbs easily flake off when you're eating this. There's some cinnamon mixed with the chocolate. If I'm ever back in town, I would get the chicken sandwich for the nostalgia.

Not only did I get a delicious meal, but also great, happy vibes that rubbed off on me for the day . I appreciate the staffs friendliness! The chicken sandwich, fries, and blueberry ginger ale were great!

I ordered the $25 fish dinner for lunch which was carp and smelt. I never tried carp before so I figured I'd give it a shot. I opened the box to find out it was filled with French fries and slaw with just a few pieces of fish. I couldn't believe I just paid $25 for that!! I mean they are catching the carp a few hundred yards away and they couldn't put even half a fish in there? It was more like a $12 appetizer. Very disappointing.

I moved away and just had the "best potato salad in town". I miss you Larders and your efforts to rade against the mediocrity and 'good enough ' chefs.

It was great, the only problem I had was they plated the cantaloupe set in my pastrami sandwich. So it was like marinated in cantaloupe. Odd. Not a deal breaker though, the food that wasn't blessed in the holy cantaloupe water was glorious.

My sister and I went here for dinner. I got latke and matzo ball soup. My sister ordered brussel sprouts and a Reuben sandwich. My latke was very good! I liked the little crispies on top. It seems like every restaurant that I go to, that has matzo ball soup, has their own way to make it. This restaurant had a matzo ball that was like wet rye bread. It was good, but I'm not a rye bread fan.My sister really liked her sandwich! The corn beef was very tender and had good flavor. The brussel sprouts were pickled, so they tasted like big pickles. They were good, too.The service was very nice, but the food was expensive for what you get. If you are in the mood for something different, this is a good place to go!

Pastrami Reuben was amazing. Loved the potato salad. Cheesecake was out of this world. Talked with the owner about the neighborhood and life. Looking forward to going back.

Office lunch today. We ordered pastrami sandwiches, latkas and matzo ball soup. I personally thought the latka and the pastrami sandwich were both fantastic! In fact, I am not sure if I have ever had pastrami before but it's going to be hard for me to find any as melt in your mouth as this one. And the latka was huge! My coworker did not love the soup so this review is based on my opinion. Pricey but worth it!

Great vibe and friendly staff. Stopped in after much anticipation of many reviews and press. Unfortunately we were underwhelmed. We ordered the pastrami platter which included pastrami, coleslaw, picked beets, and potato latkes. At a price point of $18.00 I expected the portion of pastrami to be more than 3 small pieces. The Coleslaw was very good though different. The potato latkes seems to be where they put the overabundance of size into. There were two huge potato latkes. The size, thickness, and taste was more of a hash brown than a latke. Matzo ball soup was luke warm and the matzo ball was on the hard side. Pastrami knish was so good we would go back for that along with the oatmeal cookie sandwich which are out of this world.

We absolutely love Larder! Anytime we have out-of-town guests, we swing by for an obligatory pastrami sandwich, pickle sampler, and fries! When it comes to dessert, the babka is to die for! You will not be able to resist eating the whole loaf in one day.
