Watching this place fall apart over the past year has been pretty amazing. From what I can tell the entire staff has been replaced three times since January, which is alarming to say the least.
Something like that is no coincidence, and one can only assume that upper management treats their staff rather poorly. That alone is enough to keep me away… but man the coffee sucks too.

Whats going on with the coffee? it sucks.
Nobody seems willing to even try to maintain any level of quality.

As an example I used to get pour overs back when they had Chemex. Then they suddenly switched to V60 and the coffee was NASTY! Now it seems that they’ve given up on just getting better at doing pour over and they’ve brought in a consumer grade espresso machine capable of doing drip coffee for them.
My eight year old daughter can do a pour over but these people can’t watch a youtube video and figure it out? Then why am I paying for them to do it?

Because my preferences seem to be running away from me, I’ve been all over the menu now and all I can say is… maybe it’s the coffee beans themselves that suck… maybe it was never the technique and the product is just so bad they can’t salvage it?

You can get the exact same thing day over day and some days it’s bitter, some days it’s astringent, some days it’s so acidic you get heartburn from smelling it. I can only assume that their roasting situation suffers the same turbulence as the cafe and they’re continuously letting a new crop of untrained people handle that too. There’s really no other explanation that makes any sense.

The baristas are nice enough but I can’t justify paying cafe prices for gas station coffee at a place that can’t seem to keep employees from jumping ship every week

Edit: after seeing the outrageous and silly response from the owner, yeah this all makes sense.

I am no brand loyalist and frequent plenty of cafes in the city. Nobody loses employees like you do. You’ve pretty much got one guy who’s been there since before January and even he seems miserable working for you. Which is crazy because previously he was the highlight of my day when I would go to Lekko. I surely hope he finds somewhere better to work soon!

As for talking to your staff, customers don’t even need to. They tend to talk pretty openly back there about how terrible conditions are.
Especially when your former customers run into your former employees at the cafes they flee to after working for you. Interesting stories to be sure.

Maybe you should take your own suggestion though. You might learn something.

It is also alarming that you roast the coffee and you’re proud of that fact. Maybe take a class because you’re not very good at it. Or better yet keep doing what you’re doing on all accounts and it’ll eventually resolve itself.

Also the Decent is a consumer grade espresso machine. I have one they are meant for home use. And the fact that you can’t seem to train people on consistent pour over is telling. No other cafes I go to seem to have that issue. But if this is the way you take criticism, I can tell why people under your employ might not be too eager to follow your example.

Have the day and entrepreneurial longevity you deserve.

The coffee was good but if you request half and half for your coffee be ready to buy the whole half gallon. Got charged 2.00 when I request half and half for my Mocha.

Went recently on a Sunday. There was a brief rush and it was very busy. staff did not handle it gracefully. Drinks were taking 5-10 minutes (which was fine) but when they call the drinks it was hard to understand what they were saying (calling drink name not person’s name). I went up and clarified if it was my drink order and the staff member had such an attitude. Guests were very chill. Staff was very rude. Stereotypical rude barista. Im so over it. It takes less effort to be nice.

I live out of town but like to come up to Cleveland on the weekends and often stop at LEKKO for a coffee and a pastry or bagel. The place is usually pretty busy so sometimes it is difficult to find proper seating but once you get a spot, you're set. The employees are all very nice, down to earth and make you feel welcome no matter who you are. If there was anything I would suggest to them it would be to offer more of a variety of bagels and/or pastries. But overall, highly recommended coffee shop!

Very nice place for studying, but there aren't many options for eating, and the atmosphere is very good.

Yall made my day today. Incredible coffee, and super kind baristas. I live on the opposite side of town but I’ll certainly be making my way over here more often.
