I don’t understand some of the poor reviews. I had a delicious meal and fabulous conversation at Republic Food and Drink. The appetizers were seasoned well and the entrees were done well. 5 people at the table with 5 different proteins all cooked to our liking. I had the half chicken and honestly couldn’t continue in the conversation because I was so engaged with my food. 🥰 And when I asked for more sauce the sous chef came out and lathered it!!! Mmmmm

A typical drink and dinner at the full bar before most of our Broadway Series show nights, always leads to fun conversations with other patrons and the staff with thoughtful and timely service. This past stop before seeing Hell’s Kitchen we were pleasantly surprised to have the fairly new chef come out and present us with a complimentary appetizer version of his mussels and pasta dish, minus the pasta and a few other changes. He wanted us to know that he is all about customer service and cared much about what we were looking for in the menu. He wanted and genuinely accepted the feedback and I must say the mussels were delicious. He definitely cared and we were delighted to talk with him and hear his vision. Wishing Drew Carver and The Republic Restaurant continued success. There is a great need for restaurants to flourish in the theater district. A note: Will always miss having Andy behind the bar. He always made us feel so welcomed, but also enjoying meeting new staff.

While the food was tasty and the location very convenient to Playhouse Square theaters, we were sadly disappointed with our experience. We ordered the Beef Bourguignon and it tasted very good, but there were tiny specs of meat. For $25.00, one would expect more than gravy and potatoes. The potatoes were not cooked thoroughly in places, making them hard and lumpy. We were given 1/2 off when we called attention to the issue. Our drinks didn’t come until after the meal was served. The server was friendly and apologetic, and the atmosphere was very nice. I wish I could have given a better review because this restaurant has potential.

Conveniently located inside Playhouse Square but has little offerings for appetizers and entrees. Make sure you arrive with plenty of time before your show starts because the food takes forever to arrive. We are often left with empty glasses and have to ask for refills. The employees are very nice and I don’t know if they’re short staffed but service is consistently slow.

Over all convenience is great if your going to a play next door, the food was not the greatest by any means. The food was not worth the price pretty much your paying for the environment not the food and definitely not the service, had to wait almost a half hour just to get my check to leave.

Delicious salad and rice bowl we had. Variety of cocktails to choose from. If you like Brussels sprouts, then highly recommend getting for the appetizer! Yummy! Literally right next door to Playhouse Square. Great service!
