Was expecting a spectacular dinner as I've experienced a few years ago at another Spice dinner. The Whole Beast Feast was very disappointing. The atmosphere, the appetizers, wine, and staff were amazing. The 3 courses were underwhelming and the main dish was almost inedible as it had way more fat pieces that anyone should consume. Noticed several diners left at least half that plate untouched. The chef didn't seem too enthusiastic about explaining the menu. We felt disappointed, especially since we convinced 2 other couples that this was going to be amazing. It wasn't.

The benchmark for an excellent wedding caterer is the quality of food and quality of service, and Spice Catering Co. delivers excellence in droves. The quality of their food was apparent from the first taste. We arranged to be in Cleveland for a tasting at the Spice kitchen and were treated to a selection of appetizers, salads, and entrees for our wedding. Everything at our tasting was amazing. It was difficult to narrow down to our absolute favorites, but when I tried the beef short rib, I knew it was the one. Much like the tears of joy my wife had when she found “the dress,” I was overjoyed with the beef short rib. It delighted many of our wedding guests as well, while the salmon entree left a similar impression on the fish connoisseurs. The quality of dishes was unquestionable.
Furthermore, Spice leans into seasonality when providing a menu, which undoubtedly promotes ingredient freshness and quality. We had about 100 guests at our wedding, most of whom selected one of two fantastic meat entrees. However, we also required a vegan dish, and the vegan entree was not of lesser quality. It was a delicious curry, demonstrating that Spice provided exceptional dishes to every guest. Spice receives high marks for quality of service by catering to every single guest at our wedding’s plated dinner.
Pulling off exceptional food and service required thorough planning and terrific communication. From initial emails to a fun and delicious tasting, Spice Catering Co. was attentive to our questions and requirements, which led to a marvelous menu for the most important people in our lives. We cannot thank David and Spice Catering Co. enough for their time and talent serving a wedding reception menu to cater to our foodies’ dreams. I have bought the vegan bowls for sale in various shops in my neighborhood. They are always fantastic! I’m not vegan but I easily could be if my food always tasted like this. I’m giving 4 stars because there simply isn’t enough food for the price. These aren’t terribly expensive items as there isn’t any protein but I’m paying $13 for a bowl I can eat in one sitting and still need something else to snack on after. Please please please increase the portions and I’ll be a loyal customer.

She's is the consummate professional; not only not loosing her cool when we shifted from 80 guests to 140 guests, but executing the changes with style, grace and efficiency. She is quick to see one's vision and is eager for the "unusual." Her team worked in rather challenging conditions and never missed a beat. All of our guests loved the food, her servers were competent and eager to please and her attention to detail (and there were oodles of details!) was fabulous. She is a delight to work with! I highly recommend Spice and Kelcie.

Choosing Spice Catering Co was the absolute best decision we made for our wedding. Not only did they provide delicious (and beautiful) food and fantastic service, but they also helped us plan and coordinate our entire day over the course of several months. We primarily worked with Ashley Reynolds, and she was AMAZING. Ashley answered our endless emails and questions, always responding promptly with patience and enthusiasm. She helped us plan out our entire schedule and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a backyard wedding, so there was a lot we needed to do from scratch; Spice coordinated all of our rentals, set up the tables and chairs, and even moved the chairs from the ceremony to the reception area for us. The Spice team is so organized and efficient, and they made our day run seamlessly. Ashley, Jozef, and the entire team made us and our families so comfortable throughout the entire process. I also need to mention that our wedding was just days after a tornado took out power across Northeast Ohio, and Spice kept their entire operation running flawlessly even though they didn't have power that whole week (including on our wedding day).
So many of our guests told us that this was the best food they've ever had at a wedding, and our vegetarian and vegan guests really appreciated how delicious and filling their meals were. The appetizers, salad, bread, and entrees were all so tasty, and our friends are still talking about how much they loved the lavender lemonade signature cocktail. We had Mitchell's Ice Cream for dessert, and Spice set up the cutest table for distributing the servings. I could go on and on about how much I love the folks at Spice. Thank you to everyone at Spice for making our wedding day the best day ever!!!

I truly cannot say enough incredible things about Spice. For context, the week of our wedding there were widespread power outages from a massive storm, including for all all our vendors. Spice, and specifically Elaine, were absolutely amazing in reassuring us that there would be no changes in their service, and they were right. Despite working off generator power, the food at our wedding was delicious, and the service was impeccable. We still have guests reaching out to let us know how phenomenal the food was!
Elaine, our Spice event coordinator, was a miracle worker. I truly do not think that we could have made it through this wedding weekend without her. Despite all the challenges the wedding weekend posed, Elaine was kind, immensely helpful, and so, so supportive. She reassured us, and followed through on giving us a wedding that we dreamed of. Spice Catering was the best vendor we could have asked for on our wedding day at Happy Days Lodge in Peninsula! From the tasting to the actual day, the food was absolutely excellent. When you get the head nod from your new grandfather-in-law (Italian, former restaurant owner), you know you made the right choice. So many people made mention that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. The service staff was very professional and made sure everything ran smoothly. They were also a huge help during setup, which allowed my family to breathe easier.
A big shout out for Kelci Erbse, who was a wonderful event coordinator! Even though she came on board after our tasting, she was very committed to helping us achieve our vision for the day. She rolled with the changes and was always enthusiastic. As a last detail, Kelci let me know that Spice's rentable china and goblets were available for our event date. It was the perfect last detail that pulled the tables together and totally fit our vibe!
