I got stuck in the snow a little while ago and this gentleman helped me out little do I know it was the head chef for this restaurant. I was walking home from the science center and it got freezing so I ducked into there. They gave me bread and tea and water and it's really nice and I'm gonna get a pizza from there. The ambiance is really pretty and everyone is super nice

Went here trying to catch a bite before a show at playhouse ..service was so terrible, we weren't even acknowledged at the bar until we were already sitting there for 20 mins. Place was not packed, not even busy. Our bartender never put in our order for food either so we left after being there an hour and no longer had time to go elsewhere for food. Very disappointed. Place looked neat, but I don't think I'd return after that lack of service

First time here and I’m not even being dramatic when I say this is the best food I’ve had in my life. We had the fried shrimp that comes with fries, coleslaw and Mac and cheese and everything was more than exceptional I have no words. They only serve it during lent but this is my way of saying keep it on the menu full time!!!! Also our server Veroniqua (AKA bella) made the experience even better. Such a kind soul. If you find yourself in downtown Cle I highly highly recommend coming here

Atmosphere is nostalgic for anyone who had shopped at Cowell & Hubbard jewelers. Menu has a nice variety of vegetarian options. We started with tea, tastefully served & truly delicious. We had butternut squash soup which was superb in and of itself...would've been even better if served with a hearty, ancient grain bread fitting for the menu. We followed with Bulgar salad, Curried beans, Fingerling potatoes & Mushroom tart....all very good. The bread delivered immediately to the table, along with dipping oil was not good...we asked it be taken away. Overly spiced/buttered, not appetizing. We asked for crackers or something plain, but our server said no other options. Staff was young & inexperienced, but willing to learn. Twice one of our party was inaccurately addressed as "sir", when indeed she is female. She was stopped and redirected as she entered the women's restroom. Overall it was a nice experience and we will return again.
I have had Saint Anthony's soup in the past and enjoyed it, but this time it felt more like a shredded carrot soup with very little barley and other substance to it. We did have attentative service. The vegetarian lasagna was tasty and my companion seemed to enjoy the Salmon very much.
The food is well executed for the concept. So the dishes have quality ingredients but are void of flavor. The plates and cups are as u were dining with monks. So, if you're a wine snob- beware. It was an enjoyable pre-theatre meal at a reasonable price. The service was pleasant and efficient. The communal tables were also very nice by comparison. Just a stones throw from Playhouse
Just incredible; my husband & I stumbled across this place serendipitously before our show at Playhouse, and I can’t say enough nice things. The drinks were tasty and strong. The food was outstanding. And the service was some of the best I’ve ever received (& I’ve been in this industry for over 10 years now). From the floor manager to our fabulous bartender, Lenise, (hope I’m spelling that correctly 🙏🏻), everyone was so warm and inviting and running their asses off! They were a full house on a Thursday, which I love to see for any business. I can’t wait to find another excuse to head up to Cleveland so I can go back! ☺️

This was our second time at the Friars Table. The first time was disappointing with terribly slow service and the food was nothing great. It was when the restaurant first opened. We decided to give it a second chance tonight before a show and the service was terrible. We had 545 pm reservations and our salads came out about 640 and our main courses at 655pm. No one ever came back to check on us or ask if we wanted more drinks. All drinks are served in ceramic glasses, so the staff cant see when we might need more. Trying to flag a staff person was almost impossible. I paid with cash and was not given my due coin change. My bill was rounded up and I was ripped off. We will never return. I rarely take photos of my food, but when I do I make sure they are funny. Here is our beef stew.

The service was really slow. At 1 point, the server came to refill our water and the pitcher was under his arm, spout and all. The food was warm at best. The dessert was soaked in grease. They were trying to push us out at the end, even while we were still eating dessert! Will not be going back.

This place was a mixed bag.
First, the food was very tasty.
We had the Clafoutis appetizer, which was very good.
I had the green bean salad and my wife had the butternut squash soup; both were very good
For our main course I ordered the Beef stew, which is served in a rye bread bowlband tasty. However there was only one piece of beef, but lots of potatoes. It should be called Potato Soup.
My wife had a salad with chicken, and it was good.
I ordered a glass of wine, which never arrived. At least it didn't appear on the check.
Our server didn't really check on us or ask us how we were enjoying our meal. Maybe that's part of the atmosphere.
Good food, mediocre service.
