Much better than it was in its previous iteration, but still nothing special--an uninspired menu with adequate preparation and so-so service. Friend's espresso martini was not shaken, so the flavors were not evenly distributed. Server initially brought food to our table that was ordered by people at the table next to ours. When our food finally came, my order was wrong; I opted for salad instead of fries, but my dinner plate was piled with fries. To her credit, the server told me to keep the fries while she got my salad. (I tried a few fries and, surprisingly, they were quite good.) Friend found a hair in her aioli and was comped for her meal. Husband enjoyed fish sandwich and fries. Because the restaurant is close to Playhouse Square, we may try it again before another show. But, honestly, we're not rushing back. Too bad, because the dining options in the Theater District are not as strong as they used to be and we were looking forward to a new pre-show spot.
Service, Atmosphere and Food are excellent! Perfect place for a great dining experience prior to a performance at Playhouse square.
First time we were at this restaurant since they change it to Brel's from Ghost Light The menu choices were varied as was the wine list. I had the Short Rib Beef Bourguignon and it was excellent Our waiter was excellent Good value. We will be back.
Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and she was knowledgeable about the menu. This was our first time dining here, and we'd definitely go again, especially before a show at Playhouse Square since it's so close. The short rib entrée was phenomenal!
Food so much better than the old restaurant. Service was excellent. Noice level low only because we were the only ones in the place. As soon as 2 other tables were seated, we couldn't hear each others conversation. Good thing we were about to leave. Since the room is in the round conversations from across the room could be heard. Need more soft surroundings.
Pre theater dinner was perfect. We were seated promptly and our server stopped at the table very soon. We each had a salmon dish. Both were excellent. Server was very friendly.
Service was outstanding. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We all had the steak and found it to very flavorful. Wasn't the best cut of steak I've had but for the price I thought the value was there. It was quiet and very convenient when catching a play.
Good was delicious! The steak is some of the best we've had. The gnocchi is amazing. And the flourless chocolate cake was the perfect end to the dinner. Our server was attentive and quick even though there was a full dining room!
We cannot recommend Brels enough. Sonya and her team were able to help us as walk-ins when our other reservation was cancelled. Our server Star was phenomenal, with lovely drinks and an amazing attitude. The food and wine was great. I personally had a steak, others in our party had the chicken gnocchi, salmon, and some sort of steak sandwich. Everything was AMAZING 😍. Thank you so much for an awesome experience before going to see Hamilton!
We arrived at 5:30 for our reservation. Ordering was slow but we weren't concerned when things went slowly. We placed our main meal order at around 6:00 and as of 7:10 it wasn't yet being served. Since we had tickets for the 7:30 showing of Hamilton so we offered to just pay for our (long since finished) bottle of wine and salad but we were told to just leave without having to pay. It was appreciated but disappointing.

Overall a very disappointing experience. Veggie burger looked and tasted like it came out of a frozen box; dry and tasteless. Fries were intolerably salty. Crab cake was certainly not lump crab. The appetizer cauliflower was heavily breaded and too sweet. Our server was friendly and attentive, but lacked polish. He tried. What a disappointment!
Nice for a date or birthday celebration. Great ambiance. We came before seeing a show at Playhouse Square.
We had the bartender as our waitress and she was attentive. There were a few hiccups. My daughter's meal was wrong and we had to start eating before she got her meal. Her boyfriend's soup came out with her dessert. She enjoyed her birthday chocolate flourless cake. Bread was good. All of our meals were delicious. I was nervous since it is in a hotel. But I loved how my shrimp was prepared in the Alfredo. My husband enjoyed his short ribs and the mashed potatoes looked scrumptious. My daughter had the steak and it was a little fatty. Her boyfriend had the wedge salad with chicken. He was said it was better than he expected.
I have never had a bad meal or a bad experience at this restaurant. The service is always pleasant and timely. If you have not been, it is a wonderful place to grab drinks and dinner.
We waited 45 minutes for our food. Then we were told they had a “situation” where they didn't have a cook. The server said they were going to comp one of our meals (we were a four top). This was after waiting 20 minutes for a server to greet us after we were sat. It didn't seem like she was aware we were sat, so that is not her fault. Unless they make some serious operational improvements - I would avoid this place at all costs. We did not stay to try the food and chose to not take any further chances.
