The Woods Restaurant and Lounge

We drive by The Woods often and have wanted to try it for a while and finally gave it a shot this past weekend. They were able to quickly accommodate our party of 5 at 8pm on a Saturday night, which as you know can be tough to accomplish. We ordered a few different dishes and the reviews were a somewhat mixed.

Lobster Ravioli- I didn't try this, but was told it was delicious.

Crab Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms- crab was extremely overpowering and the mushrooms were rubbery. Wouldn't order again.

Sausage Stuffed Peppers- *HOT* We like spicy food, but this was hot hot. Sauce was a bit chintzy but the overall dish was ok.

Bruschetta Bread- we ordered this based off seeing it delivered to another table. It looked really good, smelled a bit weird (to be fair, I have a sensitive sniffer), a smidge soggy, but overall ok.

Rolls & Garlic Butter- TOP NOTCH! Give me all the bread and garlic butter. My meal could've ended there and I would've been happy.

The Sicilian Trio- lasagna was ok, eggplant lacked flavor, and the chicken was tough and dry.

Veal Marsala- a bit sloppy in presentation, but plenty of sauce and was delicious.

Chicken Parmigiana (sub for Alfredo)- breading was great, nice and crispy, but the chicken was tough and dry. Alfredo sauce needed a bit of salt, but it was creamy and decent. I'd also like to know what kind of emulsifying voodoo they're performing because it did not break down through the leftovers stage like most do.

Brownie Sundae- lots of brownie action here. Honestly, if you like fudgey, the brownies (they gave us 2 for 1 dessert) were good enough to stand alone. Sundae need not apply.

Tiramisu- I didn't try this, but was told it was decent.

The service- a bit slower than expected, but our server was a sweetheart, extremely friendly and accommodating.

The atmosphere- a little outdated, but dim and cozy the way I like it.

We will likely give The Woods another try in the future in hopes we'll have a better food experience as we're trying to move away from chain restaurants.

What a great place for a party

The service was not bad, friendly and warm.
The rolls were ok, but everything else was a disaster. I usually don’t leave bad reviews, but this was exceptionally bad. The Caprese salad didn’t have any basil, they put spinach on it instead. Got the ribs and they were super fatty and somehow not that tender. The only thing carrying it was the barbecue sauce but even that slid off easily. We also got the chicken Parmesan, the breading on the chicken came off the chicken every time you cut into it and the pasta sauce was soooo watery and made the bottom of the chicken soggy.
This was a huge miss, don’t recommend at all.

The pizza was good. Sicilian trio is a nice selection of Italian favorites but we rated it average. Very disappointed in the chicken piccata as the chicken was very tough and the sauce was thick. Lots of onions on it but only three or four capers. On the other hand, dessert was delicious! The service was a little slow but we noticed that she had at least six maybe seven tables. That was excusable.

The woods is part of my favorite double date experience with my partners. It's close to the movie theater so we get a great dinner with delicious food and then hop over to a movie. Either way, food is still delicious and I can recommend this place on its own merits.

Had not been here for a couple of years because of food and service. Gave them one last chance, glad we did. Had the veal, very tender, tasty and reasonably priced. Drinks were also great and inexpensive. Service was spot on. Back on my list

Food is always very good, reasonably priced and service is excellent. I go there every Wednesday for half priced pizza which is always good.

I understand ordering delivery can have issues, but ordering Chicken Alfredo from here was a headache. My order came without any chicken, just noodles and sauce. Upon calling the restaurant I was told they would remake the dish, so now I'm driving to the restaurant (not close) to retrieve my order and there was no mention or offer to rectify the situation. This was an opportunity for a first time customer to come back after the ball was dropped.

The food is usually good but this time the fries were tough and grease soaked like they were reheated in the deep frier. And the onion soup was light on the cheese ?.

I really love the shrimp Salvatore appetizer. I’m sure as a meal it would’ve been just as good. The Maulbeck wine was good and the trio of Sicily was pretty good. A little tough but still tasty. I ate my entire meal.

I enjoy the dark wood, pew seats, and deer heads. It’s a small place but definitely a vibe. Our server was great.
