This is not a place to eat. It’s a bar with a little finger food. 6 skewers for 27 usd of mediocre quality is def overpriced.
The best was the Sapporo on tap.
Sake was weird and seems to be mixed with vodka. Will not go back. If you spend 60 bucks for 2 drinks and some light snacks there are much better paces around

One of my favorite Cleveland spots. Let's start with the atmosphere. It's warm, inviting, intimate, and fun. They played James Brown at a volume where I could still easily converse at the table (a rarity these days). The server, Chris, was fabulous—attentive and friendly. The chef came out and checked on us and made some welcomed recommendations. And the food! The food is simply amazing. One of the best steaks in Cleveland can be had here. And everything else on the menu is equally delicious. Oh, and of course the drinks are great. The mulled sake (a chef recommendation) is a revelation—especially if they have warm caramel buns ready for dessert.

This Japanese-style restaurant bar is hidden slightly but was quite an experience. The food is good, the atmosphere is cozy, and the chef is friendly

I went to Bar Oni for a date and I liked its vibe and The ambiance, it was very nice. Also the service was great too but unfortunately I would just go back for a drink, that is what we each had. I find their limited menu extremely expensive for the small portions they offer and it is definitely not the place I would go to in order to enjoy a good meal. To enjoy a drink sure but not to eat. We were both actually quite disappointed when we realized the menu they had.

Looking for something different? This is it!! So good, everything had its own unique flavor. We got the omakase tasting of six veggie skewers and six proteins. Veggie potstickers were great and the shrimp dumplings, YUM!!

This is not authentic Japanese food.
Came in on a Saturday craving some yakitori and was soundly disappointed with the kind of meal I could have made at home myself. Had the omakase for 1 and was served pork tenderloin, potatoes and brussels sprouts on skewers. It's American meat and potatoes and not even any umami to help masquerade it as Japanese, with frog legs thrown in as a novelty. The most authentic part of the meal was the Kewpie mayo drizzle on the brussels sprouts.
I don't know if they ran out of ingredients or something - that would have been weird for a Saturday night. Shoshito peppers, shitake mushrooms, corn, chicken thighs, chashu, fish balls. These are way more authentic ingredients that they could have very easily served.
If you've got an American palate and want a sudo-Japanese dining experience, this place is for you. If you love authentic Japanese food, this is a waste of your money.

This place is great, it had great food and great drinks, we chose this place because of the menu and logo and so glad we did! Very reminiscent of the bar I went to in Japan.

Cozy, hole-in-the-wall atmosphere, going for a traditional Japanese vibe crossed with a sports bar with some hanging lanterns and mounted TVs. The service was great, and the waiter/bartender was very kind and attentive! My friend and I got the Omakase for two (12 pc Veggie and Meat Skewers), and it happened to be steamed bun night, so we tried that, too. I also got the Plum Press cocktail. The drink was great, and honestly I barely tasted the sake in it. The steamed buns were decent, but I wasn't a huge fan - the sausages were probably the best part. For the skewers - my favorites were probably the mushrooms, the pineapple, and the potatoes for the non-meat ones. And for the meat ones - the pork and the chicken ones were probably the tastiest. Overall, a good experience, and I'm glad I checked it out. It was, however, a tad pricey.
