So I’m extremely disappointed in this place. I’ve been a couple times and the food and drink are amazing. Last night we did a wine tasting down the street and we wanted to come here afterwards. I noticed they were only open 6 PM to 10 PM (so four hours). That’s fine, it was a quarter till nine we were about 10 minutes away. I thought no big deal. I called twice. The phone rang each time until voicemail picked it up. We rolled the dice and still showed up. We got there literally six minutes after nine. There was no one in the bar. We were told the kitchen closes at nine. So you’re only open four hours a day and out of those four hours your kitchen is only open three (and a strict 3)? You can make the excuse that Business doesn’t support more hours but Business will never show up if you’re only open three hours a day. We took our business down the street and the manager there gave us some local insight. Apparently the previous owner sold the business and started a new art gallery/bar down the street. The new owner had made the hours so spotty that locals don’t even bother to go to Bar Oni anymore and he claimed the food had gone way down hill too. This is a shame. It was a really unique spot with good drinks and good food and unfortunately it looks like it is being ruined by new ownership that really doesn’t care or is too lazy to care. The only reason I give it two stars is that hopefully it will come back to its previous glory. Sorry but 4 hours a day really!?!?!? That’s a joke and ignoring me calling when you’re sitting at the bar drinking is not a good look.

This is not a place to eat. It’s a bar with a little finger food. 6 skewers for 27 usd of mediocre quality is def overpriced.
The best was the Sapporo on tap.
Sake was weird and seems to be mixed with vodka. Will not go back. If you spend 60 bucks for 2 drinks and some light snacks there are much better paces around

One of my favorite Cleveland spots. Let's start with the atmosphere. It's warm, inviting, intimate, and fun. They played James Brown at a volume where I could still easily converse at the table (a rarity these days). The server, Chris, was fabulous—attentive and friendly. The chef came out and checked on us and made some welcomed recommendations. And the food! The food is simply amazing. One of the best steaks in Cleveland can be had here. And everything else on the menu is equally delicious. Oh, and of course the drinks are great. The mulled sake (a chef recommendation) is a revelation—especially if they have warm caramel buns ready for dessert.

This Japanese-style restaurant bar is hidden slightly but was quite an experience. The food is good, the atmosphere is cozy, and the chef is friendly

I went to Bar Oni for a date and I liked its vibe and The ambiance, it was very nice. Also the service was great too but unfortunately I would just go back for a drink, that is what we each had. I find their limited menu extremely expensive for the small portions they offer and it is definitely not the place I would go to in order to enjoy a good meal. To enjoy a drink sure but not to eat. We were both actually quite disappointed when we realized the menu they had.

Looking for something different? This is it!! So good, everything had its own unique flavor. We got the omakase tasting of six veggie skewers and six proteins. Veggie potstickers were great and the shrimp dumplings, YUM!!
