After reading some of the reviews posted here, in I decided to give Zen Cuisine a visit and I was not disappointed. The meal was good, but the service was outstanding! The gentleman behind the country who waited on me couldn't be more kind and cordial. The food was worth the visit, but the sheer kindness picked me to for the rest of the day!

Very friendly couple runs this quaint take-out spot in The Arcade in downtown Cleveland. (Lower floor, towards the south end of bldg) $14.00 buys two lunches and two drinks, freshly prepared! Dishes are $5.99 or $6.99. Hard to beat freshness, and the flavor base is outstanding, then you can add soy, spicy mustard, duck sauce or Sriracha…or all of the above. I had the Szechuan plate with beef, zucchini, carrot, celery, cabbage, mushrooms. My wife had the Noodle Soup with tofu & veggies — tasty broth base and fresh veggies. Cash only. Atmosphere is outstanding in The Arcade with a historic building and complementing music of the early 20th century era . We’ll be back!Vegetarian options: Proteins are added, every dish begins vegetarian.

I'm a little ashamed to say that, although I've been here a few times, I'm not a frequent customer. However, every time I do go, I think to myself "Why don't I come here more often?" The food is fresh and tasty. Is it my favorite Chinese food? Maybe not, but what I've had has always been prepared fresh, in a relatively healthy style (i.e. lighter sauces), and the value is unbeatable. (I just paid $5.99 for a lunch entree.) But, one of the best reasons to patronize this restaurant? - - The proprietor is as nice as any you'll meet. (Maybe nicer.) He is always friendly, always cares, and always tries to offer a little something extra so you have a great experience. His level of dedication, friendliness, and consistency is amazing. If there is a small business owner that deserves your business (because he consistently works to earn it), this guy is it. Come and get good food, at a great price, from the nicest proprietor in Cleveland!Vegetarian options: They will fix most anything you like, and how you like it.

This is the Chinese restaurant in the old Arcade in the Hyatt, and it's a gem!First thing to mention is that the owner has made all of his dishes available as vegetarian, with not one bit two different kinds of tofu.Let's talk about the variety next, because unlike most Chinese takeout, he has a distinct number of specially curated dishes from the Kung Pao style to the Cashew dish, and the few times I have ate here, it is fantastic!Explosive flavor, crisp veggies, tofu to perfection, I'm very impressed!The last thing I'll mention is the price, as he is unbeatable downtown, as most of the choices are in the $5 to $7 mark, cash only.But so worth the cost of carrying cash, if for nothing else then the great value.Check out Zen Cuisine!
