Excellent food and the 2 for $49 meal is a super good deal. There was plenty of food for two people. The margaritas were freshly made and not from a mix. Loved everything we got. Will definitely be back.

The food and margaritas were fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. However, the friendliest employee was the hostess. Our server, Layla (I believe), was just mediocre. She made no effort to enhance our dining experience and underperformed. As a diner, we expect decent service, and her performance fell short of that expectation.

We enjoyed a fantastic early Friday dinner. We unfortunately were on a tight timeline, and were so happy we chose Bakersfield. The service was cheerful and very quick, everything we ordered was delicious and the prices were absolutely fair. We will return and hopefully enjoy a more leisurely visit next time.

The Shrimp tacos and Fish tacos were great! LOVED the beans & rice, chips, and Guacamole and the Paps Rancheras! We felt it was a bit too loud, as we had to speak very loudly to each other at the table. Service was great!

Very good food!! From Tacos 🌮 to the queso dip nice with just the right spice pitcher of margarita pineapple 🍍 was delicious..and most of all our server was the best!! Kain't remember hurr name.. but I went bak the next day to get more it was very 😋!!

I’ve been coming to Bakersfield for over 7 years and have always enjoyed both the food and atmosphere especially the queso, which in my opinion is the best in town thanks to the caramelized onions, sherry wine, and skillet presentation.
However, my last visit was disappointing. I came in about 30 minutes before close on a busy Saturday, ordered queso for dine-in and some items to go, and paid in cash (plus tip). I let both the bartender and hostess know I’d be stepping out for a short smoke break. When I returned around midnight, the door was locked and I waited about 5 minutes before being let back in. The bartender then told me my queso had been thrown out because “it got lost in the sauce” and said he didn’t charge me for it.
While I appreciate not being billed, it was frustrating that the dish I came specifically for was discarded especially since I had already paid and communicated I’d be back. When I expressed concern about wasting food, the bartender shrugged it off, saying “that’s the service industry.” I rarely leave negative reviews, but this felt careless and dismissive. I hope management addresses how communication and food handling are managed at close, as this doesn’t reflect the Bakersfield I’ve enjoyed for years.

The tacos were good, but tiny and a second shell for each would have been helpful (for shell integrity through the meal). I liked the flavor of the tacos, but the salsa verde and amarillo salsas lacked complexity and heat. I ate it all anyway, just not quite at my 5* fave level (thus the 4*).

Bakerfield is our go-to taco spot! We love their margaritas, especially the pineapple pitcher and the Short Rib Queso is always a must. This time we tried the Esquites and the Cochinita Pibil taco, which was delicious. We usually get the Baja Shrimp, Fish, or Pollo Verde tacos, but it's fun to switch it up. Only wish they served dessert! Always a great spot for flavorful tacos and margs during happy hour!
