This is just a post to let everyone know that this restaurant is closed for now. It might re-open and ir might not. I just sat across the street at Starbucks for 2 hours and watched so many people parking and trying to go eat there, only to find a locked door.

This review is hard to write as we love Cafe Istanbul, we dine at the Easton location very often. We have visited the Bexley location twice with roaring reviews. I was under the impression all of these are under the same ownership but perhaps this is not correct. We took some family to this location and first off the waitress was not friendly at all.
It took awhile for service (so bad another couple got up and left) and when she came her attitude made us feel like we were a bother. Everyone had water except I had a coke which came out in a can. Unusual since I am used to fountain drinks at the other location.
I ordered the Doner Kebab which I highly recommend, but here it was not the same. I literally have tasted Kroger's frozen Gyro meat that was better. This was not cooked on a rotisserie, it tasted like it had been frozen and slapped on a hot surface, not a grill. Wife's chicken was the same, not the succulent grilled white meat, again this tasted like it was thrown in a skillet and fried.
For the price we pay I expect far better, and will never go back to this location. Perhaps they are planning on closing and that's why it's so different now.
I don't often leave poor reviews because I know everyone can have a bad night, but this one hit me different with a combination of poor service and horrible dishes, we all left much of what we ordered, and our guests were surprised it was that bad as well.

I eat every so often at other named cafe Istanbul locations even though I'm not sure if any are affiliated. Food here was very good. Had an issue with something wrong in the kitchen which delayed ability to order entres for about 30 minutes. Only one nice lady serving slowed down my cold hummus.

As a Turk, the worst food I have ever eaten is served here. It is definitely the last place you should not go.

Worst and rude service,

Jakhongir

The service was absolutely terrible and this guy named barak had a rude tone to me and was really outrageous that he left in the middle of me asking him for something.

The moment I stepped inside, I felt the disrespect. The lady was on the phone and simply pointed at a table with her finger, as if to say, “Sit here.” No greeting, no “How are you?”—nothing. The service was very unpleasant. The food wasn’t bad, but if you don’t love what you do, you should find another job. I hope you transfer your business to someone else or close it down soon.

Great place for lunch. Small portions but delicious

Very nice owners and very kind waiters, wish the menu was more extensive but overall a very nice place for Mediterranean cuisine right in the center of the city

Love the place. Cozy and warm. Great food, lovely beverages. Need at least another server. Our guy was great, but he needed backup.

We did not have a good lunch experience. The room temp was cold when we arrived, enough to keep jackets on. The server wasn't very friendly. The lentil soup arrived with no bread or even crackers of some Kind, but it was hot. Two dishes we wanted, vegetable stew and zucchini pancakes were not available. We ordered sigara borek instead. Very salty. Yes feta is naturally salty , but this was like eating just salt.
2 soups, 1 app and tip was $30. Not worth it, even if the decor is appealing.
