We came in at 1:30pm today, an hour and a half before they close. We were told that we had to leave by 3pm sharp which wasn't an issue as we knew what we wanted. We placed our order for tea service shortly after being seated. At 2pm the waitress (who was very nice, hence the 2 stars instead of 1) brought menus back to our table and told us that they couldn't do tea service for our party of 2. We felt pressured to quickly decide between a $15 sandwich or salad because we were told we had to leave by 3pm and service is notoriously slow, so we chose to leave immediately without ordering food. The food the other patrons had looked good, but the restaurant was small and very loud. This was our first experience. I won't be coming back.
Edit: To be clear, the waitress said they were out of *everything* for tea service after we placed the order. For full transparency, we were told at the counter that they may be out of scones, and that was fine. We were seated and we confirmed with the waitress that we could still order tea service. She went to the kitchen, came back to confirm, and took our order. A while after we placed the order she returned to say they we couldn't get any part of the tea service.
I'm not sure I believe items will actually be reserved after making an online reservation considering they can't seem to fulfill an order that's placed been in the restaurant - and a few other reviews unfortunately confirm this.

Cannot recommend Cambridge Tea House enough - and for their catering services. We utilized over the weekend for a birthday party. The tea sandwiches were absolutely delicious, impeccably packed (and secure), and were ready right at our pickup time. Dan, who I spoke to many times on the phone, was very very accommodating and patient and made sure to accommodate all of our allergies (gluten free and nut free). Thank you so much to Dan and the entire Cambridge Tea House family.

Excellent tea house. The tea and food are superb - we had the traditional full tea (stacked service) and one of us had quiche. The tea sandwiches, scones, and cakes were delicious!
Just one note. Don't expect fast service. We were having a family get together and celebrating a grandchild's birthday so we were not in a hurry. We had reservations for 12:00. Arrived early at 11:45 - table was ready. Ordered pretty quickly because we knew what we wanted. Tea did not arrive until 12:30. Stacked tea service did not arrive until 12:45.

It was a bit loud and the expectation for afternoon tea was that each person order their own set of 4 tiny sandwiches, 2 tiny scones and 2 tiny deserts. The tea was weak and definitely not hot enough. It was fun to try but after having real English afternoon tea for years, it was a pale comparison.

I had a delightful experience from ordering online to staff answering questions, accommodating my needs, all the way to packing the order. The event was catered for my work place and everyone was over the top pleased with the food, it was fabulous!

I have been to the Cambridge Tea House a couple of times. Both visits were wonderful and delicious. The tea menu is very large. All of the food I have tried has been so good. The first time I went I had the full Afternoon Tea service. It was beautiful and so yummy. My picky daughter loved every bite. She also enjoyed the hot chocolate. The next visit I tried the quiche and carrot soup and loved them both. I recommend that you check it out. I can't wait to return and try something new.
