So underrated, the croissant I ordered from here is still dreamt about-- trust and believe.
Cannot say enough good things about Dan the Baker, from the pastries and beverage menu to the service, absolutely 10/10, immense gratitude for this place
Legendary. The staff is very kind, even on a mega busy Sunday with the line out the door. New café bevs slapppppp
So. Worth. It. We were hesitant when we saw the line out the door and the prices. But we WILL be back. The quality and the taste. Unmatched. Everyone in Columbus MUST eat at Dan the Baker’s! We had a cardamom knot, a matcha strawberry cruffin and the steak breakfast sandwich. Each item was better than the last. Phenomenal.
Hear me out. The cheese danish and the smoked salmon dip…. Is an insane combination! I enjoyed every crumb! I also got the raspberry vanilla cruffin , ham and Gruyère croissant and a maple latte. Everything was fantastic! But the smoked salmon stole the show!
Truly delicious pastries and drinks, but fare warning… it’s pricey. $18 for a pastry and 8oz tea. I loved my vanilla raspberry cruffin. Excellent customer service, clean nice restaurant, and free parking.
Top shelf pastries and sourdough. Prepare yourself for some sticker shock but don’t go to DTB for the cheapest pastry. You’re going for the best pastry. Hands down the quality will beat any other baker in town.
This is a small little shop you go in and buy your bakery and then head out. We purchased a roasted garlic Asiago sourdough loaf as well as two croissants.
The roasted garlic Asiago sourdough loaf was amazing. It had the nice crispy crust in the inside was very soft. The garlic flavor was infused throughout every bite, and the Asiago was a little bit more subtle at the top and little tiny bits throughout the loaf. This bread is excellent by itself or with a little bit of butter, olive oil, or with a little bit of marinated artichoke.
The croissant was really good. We toasted it so it was a little crispy on the outside yet. Still warm and fluffy on the inside though it was fluffy. It wasn’t completely airy like some croissants. They had a buttery taste, and the flakiness perfect.
Edit:
Went back again. And I highly recommend the bacon and egg pastry as well as the garlic Asiago loaf. But everything is good so you can’t make a bad choice.
Their new location has one table for seating.
The prices are outrageous. $12 for a chocolate croissant—about double of what one of similar quality would cost in Paris. $25 for a banana tea cake or a danish rye loaf!
That being said the breads, croissants, morning buns, and danish that I’ve had (I’ve tried almost all of them!) are fantastic.
Amazing Sourdough Bread!

Simply but beautifully decorated. I liked the window into the back of the bakery where you could see bannetons galore! Unique selection of pastries and breads, and the presentation made it easy to choose what we wanted. Superb lamination and flavor. Highly recommend!

The best local, bakery made pastries you will find in Columbus. While the prices are a little steep, you are paying to indulge in something truly heavenly. The cardamom cruffin and the egg and bacon pastry were flawless. Also it is a pick up and go kind of place, no seating but still very nice vibes.

I think these are some of the best pastries I’ve ever eaten. I ordered the butter croissant, ham & gruyere croissant, egg & bacon danish, morning bun, and vanilla raspberry cruffin. The egg & bacon danish and ham & gruyere croissant were incredible! I love savory pastries and these delivered. And the butter croissant was soooo fluffy and buttery and I could have eaten ten more. I’d love to try the sourdough next time I visit.
