We were in town recently visiting family and had some time one evening to explore. My husband and I were visiting from California, and we were joined by my dad from Minnesota as well as family from northern Ohio.
On Friday, 02/06/26, the weather was extremely crumby and cold with heavy snowfall...definitely not ideal conditions to be out at a bar. However, we were looking for somewhere to pass the time before meeting up with the rest of our family when we drove past GasWerk.
It looked like a good place to get out of the weather and catch up with each-other, so we parked and went inside to check it out. Space looked really fun and we were excited to check it out. When we entered, the bar was mostly empty (one table of four/five occupied), which was understandable given the weather. We noticed two employees on their phone sitting at the entry/ID area, and as we walked in, the bartender left the front area and went behind the bar.
From the moment we entered, we felt like unexpected guests interrupting an event rather than welcomed customers. We travel often and make an effort to be friendly and outgoing wherever we go, but the atmosphere felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. There was only one table and two employees in the front of house, yet we felt as though we had walked into a private event we weren’t invited to.
The staff’s demeanor came across as dismissive and annoyed that we had come in. There were comments made near my husband that felt slick and disrespectful, which only reinforced the sense that we were not welcome. We didn't even over anything, just regrouped and walked out.
Overall, the experience left us feeling uncomfortable and disappointed.

Went into Gaswerks with some friends and had the best time! Great deals and had such a fun time. I was served by the sweetest girl named Claire. She helped my whole group and spent time talking about her college time. Wonderful food as well from the bus. Will visit again to play some more games!

It’s my go to bar when I go out with friends the bartender Claire is attentive to all the people there and super friendly. The place is nice and clean and super fun. Has great music and great staff. The food and drinks are pretty top tier as well.

The service was very attentive and everyone was very nice. Later in the night, the police had arrived and forced us to leave around 1:30. The bar did not close until 2. I think it is completely unfair especially if we are not ordering drinks. We were in the restroom and my friend was not feeling well. I understand if we were ordering drinks and they were ready to close and wanted us to leave. We were very polite and understanding towards the staff. I think it’s extremely disrespectful to force us out before the bar was closed, Especially when we were not causing a scene, or being indecent. We were extremely respectful and polite the whole time. It honestly made me not want to return and made me extremely uncomfortable that they were standing outside the bathroom waiting for us to leave. It made me feel like a criminal, when we were absolutely doing nothing wrong. Would not recommend!
