Food was ok. Service was really bad. Place was not nice even for a diner.
Excellent food service and entire experience
First time in. Food was great. Loved the old diner feel. Worth it for sure.
No place that serves food should serve you microwaved sausage links. Have some respect for the food you put out there. Biscuit tasted stale like it was frozen. Would recommend the French toast.
We tried Jack & Benny's and ordered the Jack Buster and the Biscuits & Gravy with a side of bacon for takeout. We were literally next door, so the food didn't have to travel far. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what we hoped for.
The Jack Buster didn’t have much flavor, and the toast tasted stale.
The Biscuits & Gravy didn’t impress either — the biscuits seemed like they came from the freezer, and it didn’t even come with eggs, which was surprising.
The bacon was so thin it was practically see-through.
Overall, we were hoping for a classic diner experience but left feeling underwhelmed.
Simple and delicious. OJ was amazing!
I liked this a lot. Retro atmosphere. Friendly staff. And good food
Best. Food. Ever!
Very disappointed: menus were old and dirty which should have been the first clue. We left hungry despite paying $35.00 for 2 persons, one of whom just got 2 side dishes. A side order of potato pancakes was the size of medallions (3), while a side of bacon had 3 strips that were so thin that one could see through them. Will not return for an encoreperformance.
I met up with a few friends here for lunch. We wrote our name down on the waitlist and only had to wait for about 5-10 minutes before we could be sat. The waiting area has some chairs and tons of plants surrounding you. 🪴😍 The menu had all of your basic breakfast and brunch options. I opted for a half serving of French toast with tea, while my friends ordered the Arnold, and some type of sandwich (pictured). Everyone seemed pleased with their choices. 😀
The vibe here is laid back and you don't feel rushed to finish your food and leave. The noise level was tolerable, so that was nice. We were able to hold a conversation and still be able to hear each other. I would like to return in the future!

My friend and I came in and we had a pleasantly time, the only issue I had is my shredded hashbrowns were underdone and tasted a little raw, but all our other food was very tasty. Out server was very kind, the food was made fresh and came out at a good pace. The Fresh OJ was also a nice touch. A great place to come when you want a good cheap breakfast!
I’m no fan of OSU at all in fact we were in town for the PSU wrestling match where we stomped OSU. But the food at this place was amazing it’s a dirty grease pit for sure. But the service was fast the food was hot and delicious. The price was more than reasonable and did I mention the food was amazing. Highly recommend having breakfast here if you’re in town!
All food tasted like garlic, even though I ordered Pancakes and the person who I was with ordered the French toast. Ontop of that they did not give us an itemized receipt, and the bill seemed more expensive than what we ordered.
Maybe the worst scrambled eggs I've ever had. I didn't know you could mess up scrambled eggs until here. They were hard and tasteless. I expect more than 1 single egg when I order scrambled eggs on the side. So much cinnamon on the French toast that I choked on it slightly. You can see in the picture the insane amount of cinnamon piled.
My group waited about 30 minutes for the check AFTER we got our plates cleared. I had to track our waitress down to even get it then.
No check splitting which sucked for our group of college kids who don't readily have $100+ to drop on their card.
Atmosphere is nice which is only reason this isn't a 1 star. There's so many good places to eat breakfast in Columbus, id avoid this one.
Anyone leaving less than *at least* 4 stars needs to get a reality check. Jack and Benny’s is what it is - and I love her for that ♥️
My husband and I go to this diner once a week and have been going here once a week for years, now. Sure, maybe the diner doesn’t have extra income to spruce up the front room, but I love the front room. The owners have beautiful plants there that are well-taken care of and they have vintage artwork specific to Ohio football covering the walls.
I love the old diner feel of this place and let me say that we have NEVER been harassed about leaving a tip - but also, leave a tip, people. It’s 2024 and we should know better by now.
English is not the owner’s first language, so it may be good for patrons to know and understand a few things about how this diner functions:
1) if you want time to spend at the diner, come before 10 am (ESPECIALLY on a weekend) or come on a weekday (better yet, come before 10 am ON a weekday). This place does get busy! It isn’t a coffee shop where you can sprawl out on your laptop - keep it moving!
2) yes they do not accept cash anymore and honestly, get over it. This place took covid VERY seriously (as they should!) and stopped taking cash payments back then and never went back. It truly isn’t that big of a deal - you can pay using apple pay or google pay and everyone has a phone.
3) SERVICE IS GOOD!!! Honestly! Except sometimes people are nasty and yeah! Ive seen the servers give what they get! Lol! Some places you can be a dick to the staff and they will still be courteous - not here! That doesn’t make the service bad, it just means they won’t tolerate your nonsense. Also: they DO refill your drinks!! I have never had to ask for a coffee refill, they always just do it.
4) The food is good and they did up their prices, but you get what you pay for (in a good way!). For my husband and I to get 2 entrees and 2 coffees, it’s usually about $32 for the two of us which really isn’t bad. I normally get the veggie breakfast wrap which is a more expensive item on the menu (and quite good 😊).
5) I dont know what people are talking about when they say they have to wait for their check?? Sometimes it can be on the slower side, depending on how busy they are, but yeah if you’re in a hurry, don’t come here!
Finally, I will say that if you are looking to support a women-run, family-owned, small local business, this is the place. If you have time, talk to your server. Ask them about their travels or how they are doing today. Don’t be a disgruntled customer looking for posh service - be a human connecting with other humans.
We love you, Jack & Benny’s! Thank you for everything!
