Hey, actual 10+ year New Yorker here who now lives in Columbus. There is zero debate for authenticity of flavor and experience: Khyber Halal Gyro (4865 Sawmill Rd, Columbus, OH 43235).
When the owner is cooking the food in the truck, it is incredibly delicious. Having tried hundreds of “top eats” in Columbus, this is actually on the top of my list.
The authenticity is reinforced by the fact that you need to pull into a power-line utility drive and park on a slope so you can go order. And here’s the best thing to order on the menu:
•Mixed over salad (all fresh cut) and rice with white sauce and extra hot sauce (keeping in mind that the hot sauce is good but only delivers 40% of Halal Guys in midtown, Manhattan).
Also, it does not show up on Apple Maps, you need to use Google Maps, link in bio. Don’t forget to comment and subscribe!
Parking: Parking is great! You should do it every time, before you get out of your car.
