8.7/10 — Chicago Flavor in the Heart of Columbus

Stopped by Loops on Northwest Blvd last night around 6–7 pm. Parking was easy in the lot behind the building, and there was no wait to order. I got the Italian beef sandwich, a Loops Dog, and chili cheese fries. The Italian beef was a touch dry, but the au jus more than made up for it. The Loops Dog is built on a steamed Vienna beef hot dog—charred on request—packed into a poppy seed bun and crowned with all the Chicago classics: mustard, raw onions, green relish, tomato, sport peppers, a pickle spear, and celery salt. That snap and slather combo is a vibe. The chili fries? Cheesy, hearty, and gloriously messy—just how comfort food should be.

This place is family-owned, serves up authentic Chicago favorites, and has even been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Whether you’re craving Italian beef, a true Chicago hot dog, or loaded fries in Columbus, Loops is a solid choice. Only downside—the fountain drink machine was down, but bottled drinks did the job. Next time, I’m definitely trying the gyro.

Was really looking forward to trying this place out since it was on DDD. I was in the mood for a gyro and got the Jackson Street. The pita was soggy and wet by the time I got it back to work in a 6 minute drive. The hummus on the sandwich had zero flavor, and the chicken was so dry it was barely edible. I also got fries that were crispy, but despite all of the added herbs and cheese, lacked any flavor at all. I spent 14 dollars on a meal that I took about 5 bites of and threw away. Very disappointed.

Second visit to Loops and once again very pleased. We ordered beef sandwich, fries and Chilli cheese dogs (no onions). Food was great. Service was friendly and prices were not bad. The place was rather busy so I would so they have a good reputation.
I wish they had fountain drinks vs bottled soda but not a big deal. We will be back.

Nothing like Chicago this place is not good. Nothing but imposters. If you eat here you'll be disappointed if you've ever eaten real Chicago hot dogs or beef sandwiches. Stay away is my recommendation.

Qualifier, I'm from Chicago born and raised; so I've always looked for a good Italian beef sandwich that's truly like home. It was okay, but the bread that they use is not the same type of bread that is used in Chicago, because once they dip this bread, it was just a gooey mess.

Food was Incredible, I got the beef sandwich with a side of au jus. Very tasty and fresh. Only complaint was I felt the portion size to price was a bit expensive.

Fun, unique experience of a food joint. Never been to Chicago, but I makes me want to go there to try an actual dipped sandwich there. I also had their Lake Street BBQ gyro with chicken, and a Coney dog as well. Highly recommend both.

Can never go wrong here. Gyros are great but their Italian beef sandwiches are why I keep coming back. Get it dipped. It's messy but worth it. Excellent seasoned fries as well.

The Classic Gyro was delicious and the portion sizes were great! For the price, it’s hard to beat the value. The service was quick and welcoming. Overall, a great experience. Can’t wait to come back again!

Loops is a local legend for good reason! Some of the best food available near campus and crazy fast from ordering to eating. Don't take my word for it though, they've been on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives....twice!
