Viet-fusion is overrated. Stick to serving your best authentic Vietnamese recipes handed down from your family line would have been the best venue. We were pleasantly surprised with the Mala Stir Fry. It was the only dish we were pleased with. The Pho Tái was flavorless water, zero traditional pho broth flavor (ie anise, etc.). We prefer aesthetically pleasing environment but greatly prefer palate-pleasing Vietnamese dishes even more. We will not be making future visits. We will not recommend.

Not sure why there are critical reviews of the pho broth at this place. The bowl I was given today is one of the absolute best and richest pho broths I have ever tasted, and I have had pho all over the US, including the most authentic level available in the country. I tried the Pho King. It was outstanding. The soy braised brisket was tender melt in your mouth, and perfectly balanced against the well composed arrangement of noodles, scallions and cilantro. I got the thai chilies as an add on and they were served in a micro diced form that added more beautiful green specks to an already beautiful presentation. I was extremely satisfied and nourished from my pho experience- and that is the entire point and power of a proper and well composed bowl. I highly recommend it! Great atmosphere and backdrop music vibes, as well. Lastly...food of this quality at the price I paid was an incredible deal. Especially being in Short North. 5*

Good noodles! I ordered the brisket pho—the brisket was very tender. The broth was decent but felt a bit plain; it could use a bit more depth of flavor.
I also tried the burger bao. It was tasty, but a bit small for the price and nothing particularly special.
Overall, a solid spot for a quick meal, but the flavors could be more memorable.

I went to Mecha last night for the first time - it was a cold and rainy night and ramen was gonna do the trick. The food was average - I got the mushroom bao bun, poutine, and vegan ramen. It was all fine. Good, but I've definitely had way, way better. The service was really lacking due to the HUGE influx of food delivery orders the FOH staff was trying to manage. There were only 3 FOH staff and 2 BOH (I know this because we were seated next to the kitchen). The poor FOH staff, including the bartender, were absolutely swamped with the incoming orders and had to stay glued to the food delivery order prep area. It was causing all of us live, in-person customers to basically be ignored. Not their fault, but something definitely needs to be done in terms of staffing and food delivery orders. The poor folks at the bar sat there and never had their orders taken because the bartender was frantically managing the non-stop stream of food delivery drivers who were coming in. At one point there were almost more food delivery drivers in the restaurant than actual in-person customers. Sadly, b/c of the mediocrity of the food and the below average service, I would not return to eat here.

I do really like coming to this place! I actually drove from Cleveland to eat your ramen however I had a bad experience with the service. When I was paying my check I asked the girl if the tip was included since we were a large party and she said “no it’s not included” so when I was selecting the tip percentage on the machine I realized that the tip was already included on my check so this girl was lying to all of us. We asked her three times and she kept saying the same thing, please guys make sure you control this next time.

Pho: Considering that I’ve had true authentic pho. The pho here is okay. It’s not bad but I think adding beef paste if it isn’t there already and maybe cooking up the meatballs in the way most Asian cooks would. I just think there’s something missing to give it more flavor.
Bao: The shiitake bao was great. It’d be nice to see a grilled chicken bao option on the menu one day.
Overall atmosphere: No complaints.

The ramen egg is perfect. The pork is a bit too fatty but thats also generally how it's supposed to be made so that's more my preference then anything else. Music is moderately loud but still able to hold a conversation without trouble. Service is great and I love the amount of nerdiness. Funny side story: While walking to the restaurant I thought to myself, 'wouldn't it be awesome if they were playing Demon Slayer. Get into the restaurant and they were indeed playing Demon Slayer!!!
