A Layne

I only dined in once. The breakfast was palatable.

Vey disappointing. The restaurant had no draft beer, no cocktails, short on wait staff and were out of items listed on the menu. This reservation was for a saturday evening Excuse given was that there were major events in Columbus that ended a week previously , yet the facility had not re-stocked essential items. The food and beverage deliveries would be on Monday. BIG UNSAT!

Not the dining experience we were looking for! We were hoping to be able to be seated in the lovely, black, table clothed dining room overlooking the State Capitol, but instead we had to sit in a make-shift area in the bar .Paper menu limited items. No Specials. Short Staffed. Bar Tender serving along with one staffer. Bar drinks were well made and expensive. Cocktail sauce with the shrimp cocktail had turned to gelatin. It is a convenient location to a Theatre Venue, but it is evident this Marriott Restaurant is lacking management and Staff.

Lovely place to eat prior to downtown activities, especially at the Ohio Theater. Very convenient. Food selection was limited but the food we had was good. Prices reflect downtown hotel prices. Cocktails were made well but again were about twice the cost. Service was nice. We explained that we were on a timeline and chose appropriately. Our server was very nice and checked back with us several times. We didn't feel rushed at all. Our bill was $80 plus tip for two moderately priced selections (shrimp and grits and vegetable and pasta) and a cocktail each. I would have rated this experience a 5 but we were seated against a very large pillar that obscured our vision of pretty much everything. I would request a different table next time.

Perfect if attending a show next door at the Ohio Theatre. I had the filet and my friend the chicken! Quick and delicious. Loved the meat and cheese board and lab cake. The only bad part was my mojito.

Ordered the pan seared salmon, it was delicious and cooked perfectly. The Brussel sprouts could've been cooked a little longer they were a little hard. The potatoes were delicious, the sauce was good too. The service was great, our waiter was polite, attentive and informative about wine choices.

The menu was not updated on open table because they have new owners. Short staffed so out sever, Kim, was called in. She usually does lunch not dinner. We were her first table. Very nice and apologetic for everything that she had no control over. Food was great, seasoned and flavorful. Very quick service from drinks to appetizer and dinner. The chef was able to make us they hummus platter that was on the open table menu but taken off the restaurant menu. But didn't have pita so got baguette slices instead. Still very good and he was very accommodating. Perfect spot for before our show that evening next door at the Ohio theater, only 100 steps away. We we completely done within 45 minutes start to finish. Thank you again to Kim, the manager and chef for making our night.

Had a 530 reservation. There was only 1 other table of diners and an after work group for drinks at the bar. Yes the other reviews are correct that the bartender is also the waiter, but he provided excellent service. The food was delicious and served quickly. We were done eating by 6pm. Plenty of time to go to light show at the commons before the theatre.

Food very good. Bartender was also server. He did a great job. Only issue was the food was very slow in coming out but it definitely was good and also hot when it came out. I recommend it, but make sure you have plenty of time.

They didn't have the tomato soup, the substitute was potato soup which was just OK. The chicken on the cobb salad was overcooked. The pretzel as an appetizer was the best part of the meal. The server was nice, but it seemed they were definitely short staffed. It would be nice if they cleaned the windows to help with the ambiance.

Only giving 2 stars (instead of 1) because of wait staff who seemed to be trying very hard with what they had and were nice. Otherwise, the food was bad and it took a very long time to get served even though it was not busy, and then food was cold.

The restaurant wasn't busy at all yet it was very difficult to get even water refills. The staff was friendly but my shrimp and grits was mostly cheese and the shrimp tasted like they'd gone bad. Overall I would not return to this restaurant and wouldn't trust any of the food.

We had show tickets and wanted something close, the sandwich we had was supposed to come with a sauce and they didn't have it but instead of telling us we were served the food. It was then lacking, had I know I would have ordered something else. They did give us a discount but it was disappointing. We will try it again as there other things I wanted to try. Menu was small but sill had enough options. The jump in pricing to steaks was a big leap (I would normally have a steak but it seemed so much more expensive).

Overall, the food tasted pretty average and being in a hotel the atmosphere was okay, but nothing spectacular about either. However, it should be noted that I ordered a pretty basic dish- their “2 Egg” option, so I can’t speak for their more complex dishes. My friend got the chicken and waffle sandwich which looked pretty good (it was open-faced, which was good to see). I ordered my eggs scrambled, and I ordered ham for my protein and English muffin for the toast option. We both ordered coffee and water. My friend’s order came out okay, although it took almost a half hour for food to arrive. The coffee was a bit pricy for what it was ($5 for basic black coffee), and to our server’s credit he did keep refilling the water and coffee every chance he got (the only reason I didn’t rate the service one star lower). However, my order aside from the scrambled eggs came out incorrectly. They gave me sausage instead of ham and wheat toast instead of an English muffin. The food already took so long to come out I didn’t bother saying anything. The food still tasted okay but I was paying $20 plus tip for the simple breakfast and what I ordered wasn’t complicated. I noticed he didn’t write the orders down and they didn’t seem to have a lot of staff so not trying to drag the guy, as he was kind enough. In the end not a massive deal, just didn’t get what I was paying for or wanted. Might try again at a later date.
