We spent a night here the second week of Oct. We visited the south and north TR parks the next day and stayed in Watford City. This is a 5 star high end hotel. Medora is a tourist town and off season and weekday made the rates fit our budget. As said this is a 5 star hotel, but our experience was especially lowered by the parking situation. The parking is located in the lot of a park ( i think ) and also used by a bar ( and I think grill ). This lot is 30-60 yards away. It does not give you any sense of security. I would ask management to correct or amend my memory in a response to the parking situation There is no microwave in the room as there is a high end restaurant on premiss that has a great menu but at resort prices.

This was a wonderful lodging. We were on a tour and rushed so didn't have enough time to enjoy the fabulous room and lobby. Dinners were very good especially osso buco bison dish. Hotel was the cleanest I have ever been in. Quiet, comfortable, fabulous updated bathrooms.

The history of the hotel makes this the place to stay in Medora. We especially liked the library in the front lobby area that was exclusively books about Theodore Roosevelt (or actually written by him). The rooms are relatively small but more than adequate. We originally had a room facing the park but it was looking right out into someone's back yard, so we opted for a room facing the street, which was much better and recommended. The restaurant is the best in Medora, so make sure to have dinner there at least one night.

This historic hotel is gorgeous! It has been modernized to compare with a luxury hotel with all amenities like vintage looking furnishings, all tile bathrooms, 2 comfortable chairs in each room and luxurious mattresses. Service was friendly and very helpful. We even met Joe, who portrays Teddy Roosevelt impeccably.

Bad management with poor decisions! Two day stay and we were informed tonight at 5:00 p.m. that their dining room (only place to eat at the hotel) was closed. A sign on the door says "Private Party". There are only two other establishments open in town as dinner choices - both bar and grills that are in need of thorough cleanings. Management severely lacking any skill set to keep paying guests happy.

Quiet and clean, historic well appointed lobby, nice patio outside. First night we had to park across the street in the adjacent lot. Be aware that breakfast is not included, but can be had in the dining room located in the hotel and is very good there.

We loved this hotel! The location was perfect in the downtown area! We booked a king room in the newer area and it was very nice and very spacious. I loved the western touches and the Roosevelt “brands” on the tile work in the shower! The staff was nice and friendly and quickly responded to our needs. We spent two nights in Medora and would definitely recommend this hotel!

We stayed 2 nights over Labor Day weekend 2023. We enjoyed our stay very much. Located in the quaint town of Medora, you can walk to every thing. Free lot parking. Elevator for the new room wing, no elevator for the historic rooms, so plan accordingly. Room was very nice size and quiet and clean! Bathroom had a large walk in shower. Every thing was modern. Check in was easy and fast. Most all staff are from Poland or Romania. All helpful and pleasant. Lovely bar and restaurant on site. We would say the best in town. TR National Park is only a 6 minute drive away. Look no further than the Rough Rider Hotel for a very pleasant stay in Medora. 5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We recently staued 2 nights at the Rough Rider Hotel. It is a very nice upscale hotel with a heavy western flair. It is decorated with plenty of well-deserved tribute to Theodore Roosevelt. Comfortable room and bed, nice bathroom with walk-in shower. This was probably the quietest hotel i have ever stayed in. It is located in the heart of Medora and within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. Staff was always pleasant and friendly. We only had breakfast at the on-site restaurant, but it was very good. Of all the hotels we saw in the area, I would highly recommend Rough Riders!

I enjoyed my one night stay here. Room was clean and nice and the property has character. This appears to be the nicest option in Medora. Breakfast in the restaurant was okay. Close to everything. Great spot for spending the weekend and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The Rough Rider Hotel in Medora was a great place to stay. The rooms were great and the amenities in the room were suitable for the one night stay. Great lobby decor! Would recommend! It was very close to everything !

First of all this hotel is a modern room and is not in the slightest bit reminiscent of the old hotel. It does have some fancy wood work that looks nice, but it only occupies the same floor space as the original hotel. The worst part about my stay was the air conditioning in the room. We adjusted the controls down to cool the room off and several hours later it was still very warm in the room. I went to the front desk to ask about the air conditioning and he told me of some weird process on how to get it turned down and advised this process was needed to keep kids from messing up the system. I tried his weird way of adjusting the controls and after waiting 30 minutes the room was still 71 degrees. I went back down to the front desk and the night shift clerk was on duty by then and he told me the air conditioning system was preset to not go lower than 68 degrees. According to a thermometer I had the room was at 71.5 degrees and humid. I was unable to rest at all in that room and ended up sleeping in my vehicle. I might add the temperature outside was around 56 degrees so it wasn’t like it was in the 90’s and the air conditioning system was being stressed. The shower head in the shower was also a low flow showers head and was set up for conservation of utilities and not for the comfort of their guests. I also feel the air conditioning is set up for their conservation of electricity and not for the comfort of their guests. Mi wife and I were on a 2 week road trip and this was by far the worst stay we had. Never going back there again. I paid $281 to sleep in the parking lot. Terrible stay….

This place is stunning. Service is excellent. Friendly staff, beautiful rooms, and the bed was so comfortable. I have a bad back and no issues. There is a seating area that is like a huge library with fireplace, Tiffany style lighting everywhere.

Nice motel, very comfortable bed. Good restaurant as well. We ate breakfast at the restaurant and it was really good. No more expensive than other places we eat on the road. Cute town and very close to TRNP. We enjoyed our stay there as well as the park.
