In response to the negative comments.... Y'all complaining about the flies...however...not one person said they got sick from the food...and don't be acting like you've never put something dirty or questionable in your mouths before....so kindly shut your mouths up... This post is an honest and real review... When we pulled in, we were unsure what to expect...but when that little sweet lady, Lori, greeted us...all my hesitations disappeared. I looked at my friend, and said...this chic is about to blow our minds!!! And I was NOT wrong!!! I compare the experience of Shokeys to an outside family BBQ. Is it summer? Is it hot? Are you surrounded by fields and farm animals? Of course there are flies...she is ONE person...running a business, running a farm, AND taking care of someone she loved very much while he was dying....sorry she didn't think to update her social media....How awful that you were inconvenienced. Hopefully you never have to go through something like that. Whenever we make it there.. we are welcomed like family....the food is so good....and the prices are unbeatable!!!! If you only think food is good if your in an upscale establishment, then go there. Shokeys is perfect as is.

This was my second visit here. It's nothing fancy but food is good. (It's not healthy... but tasty!) I ordered the chicken, shrimp and fish platter with hushpuppies and fries. I also ordered fried pickles and fried mushrooms. My sister ordered the steak, pepper and onions hoagie. Everything was wonderful. Service isn't super fast but the owner/server/and cook is 84 years and does this all by herself. She is just precious ! The cooking/ordering area is actually a remodeled bus. The owner recently lost her husband but keeps running this restaurant all by herself. She's amazing! Like I said, it's not fancy but it's a fun place and feels like down home. You have to try it!

My husband and I stopped here on our way to Roscoe Village for a bite to eat but decided to stop here instead. The food was fantastic and the lady running it is amazing! What people don't understand that put the not so pleasing reviews is that the owners consist of 2 people. Her AND her husband. You probdidnt have the pleasure of meeting him because he was bed ridden and she also takes care of him also. He has passed but while she's watching her husband pass away she's also taking care of the animals and property too. She STILL cared for her customers before herself. That to me is well worth the stupid fried food that had been cooked too much. She would have done anything to make that right. She's in a country where NOW she knows no one and without a husband, no family too so ease up. She had a dream to serve others and they accomplished that. He was and she Is a blessing to this planet.

If you are looking for a cool experience you should try this little place to eat in the middle of nowhere. Lori the cook makes everything herself. She is the
sweetest thing. Hamburger and fries are great. I was a little nervous at first definitely not fancy so prepare for that. Highly recommend if you like to something different from big chain restaurant. Again be prepared because I pretty sure the floor was either dirt or particle board. She did get a credit card machine and we had to show her how to use it.

My friends and I have tried 2 times to eat here. We have heard good things about the food. We have checked hrs. And days open before going and although posted they were open ,they were closed. Some of us drove a good bit to get there. Disappointed. Please if you are closed post on line and if closed for the season , let people know. Thank you.

I’m sorry I have to post a bad review because I really wanted to be able to say great things about this place. I’ve been wanting to try it for such a long time and my sister even came up from WV just to go with me and have lunch. I do want to say that the lady cooking, (the owner) was a very sweet gal but that was a good as it gets. We love finding off the beaten path, quirky little places like this so the appearance was all the more intriguing but after ordering and having time to really see the place while we waited for our food it started making us a little nauseous, the flys were horrendous and there were fly strips hanging everywhere covered in dead flys, even right at the counter where you order. It was so disgusting, so I told her we had just decided to get our food to go because we were loosing our appetite quickly at that point. It took a very long time but our food was finally ready. We left and went down the road to pull off at a spot and eat our food only to find most of it unedible and burnt beyond acceptable limits, (As you can see in the pictures) We had already tossed most of it out the window before I decided to get some pics and post a review. I usually just let things like this go but she had to know how bad our food was when she put it in the To go boxes but yet still sold it to us at the tune of $40, so I’m a little upset about that. As you can see in the one picture it had even melted through the styrofoam box. We also got Philly cheese steak sandwiches which appeared to be ok but because of everything we had seen inside the place we couldn’t eat them for fear of possible fly contamination and unsanitary conditions. I hope the wildlife enjoyed them. We will not go back!

It was our first visit to Shokey's. What a pleasant little place off the beaten path. Not hard to find at all. We arrived when she first opened so it wasn't busy. We had the fish, shrimp and fries platter and egg rolls. The egg rolls are homemade and what they are known for and they were delicious. The platter was huge and enough for 2 ppl. They aren't on Facebook only Google. She's a sweet little lady doing it all herself. Show her some love if you stop by.

This place is very hidden and backwoods. It's a food truck converted into a makeshift restaurant. I don't guess I can really complain because once we walked in, I knew we should have left but didn't because it was already 9 pm. There is a sweet cat that apparently lives indoors. You also need to be prepared to fight away many flies to be able to eat. The tables looked like they haven't been cleaned in a while. I'm sure for locals this might be a little harsh, but I wouldn't eat here ever again due to how unclean it is.

Great food at a very fair price. The only thing that I know of on the menu that is over $10 is a 14-in pizza which is $15. So depending on how hungry you are, you could spend a lot of money or you could spend under $10. Very friendly people and the food is always great

As soon as we pulled up, I felt uneasy. Honestly freaked out. We were the only customers at the time. I seriously thought we might become part of the next meal. The surroundings looked abandoned, there was only a port-o-let for a restroom. The lady that waited on us was very nice, a much older lady. Food took forever. Husband loved his burger, best he'd ever had at a restaurant. He didn't like the puckles in the deep fried pickles. Son had chicken nuggets that were burnt within a millimeter of being inedible. I was scared the whole time I was there. Not the cleanest place either. I don't get the hype. Wouldn't recommend unless you're prepared to maybe have to fight for your life.

I saw a Tik Tok reel hyping up the restaurant. So I made the drive from Columbus to see if it was worth the hype and it exceeded the hype. The food was so delicious! Probably the best egg roll I have ever eaten and the burrito was just as tasty. I can't wait to go back to try other menu items.
