Good food, good service, great atmosphere on the patio. We'll definitely be back!

This restaurant is simply amazing! The portions are very large which makes the prices good. The staff is very friendly, but the food is out of this world good. So glad to have found this place.

The manager turned a bad experience into a good one. We ordered 3 steaks at medium rare. Two came back are well done mine was rare. The server was young so I felt that I needed to go and see the manager. He came over and agreed with our assessment. He credited us our two steaks and made a bad experience into a better one. The patio was great and the views are great. Thank you for our dinner.

Probably the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. I don’t know if they were stretched thin. I was delayed in seating as a solo guest. The couple who arrived after me and seated right after me were served first. Food was cold and took a long time to come out. No one checked if I needed anything even though other customers we’re having servers ask them if everything was ok after they got their food.Even asking for the manager took twice before someone came out. They were nice enough to remove the charge for the entree. But still just not enjoyable overall experience. This is the first time I have written a review like this.

This place was phenomenal, the staff was very attentive and friendly even with our large party of about 20 people (we called ahead of course.) The food was spectacular and reasonably priced for the portion sizes. I got a New York Strip with green beans and potatoes and the steak was a perfect medium rare. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be visiting again.

Local spot. Bartenders are always friendly. I'd like to go during off hours to avoid any crowds. They have the best patio seating in Dayton.

would not recommend at all. had to wait 30 minutes to just receive water. food took an hour and a half. our waiter failed to ever even refill our waters or update us on our meals. horrible service and food as well. fries tasted like rubbing alcohol. no apologies or discounts. not to mention they failed to clean up broken glass on the floor from another table the whole time while we were there.

I was excited to introduce some girlfriends to Basil's on a girls night before a show. We were a party of 5, thinking we had enough time for 7pm show arriving at 5:15. They appeared to have enough staff for the 1/2-3/4 full dining area. But it quickly became evident they weren't keeping up; only 4 people in the kitchen, so all staff appeared to be helping. Waters after 15 min, drinks and food ordered and drinks after 30 min. We told the waitress we needed to make a show, and she responded we might not make it. We finally asked for the manager at 6:10, to cancel our orders. He never came over; just went in the kitchen to get our food out for us to have about 10 min to scarf down and put in to-go boxes. I try to be really patient in these post-COVID times with staff shortages. But they should have warned people of the long wait for food. They were clearly aware many people were there before 7 pm shows and ballgame. I'll go again, but definitely not when I need to be somewhere afterwards.

Really tasty restaurant! Came here with a large group and they accompanied us well and everyone was pleased with their food! I shared the ribs with my brother they were very tender and delicious. We tried every dessert and loved those as well. Our server Ashley was super and I would recommend this restaurant. No parking lot though so be prepared to park on the street!

I remember having basils when it 1st opened and it being good, but then I moved away. So when I was in town I decided to suggest it for a friend and I. Best decision! It's so good.We started with the Bruchetta which was unlike any I've ever had. It wasn't single pieces of toast it, but a dome-like pull apart situation stuffed with cheese and tomatoes- DELICIOUS! And we ended up being there during happy hours so it was discounted! For the entree I got the islander which was amazing 10/10. So flavourful, love the abundance of veggies even though I would have liked just a little bit more chicken.. But will order it again in a heartbeat. My friend got the Basil's pasta with shrimp. She rated it a 7/10 and I agreed. It needed more seasoning, it not as flavourful and the pesto seemed onenote.. Great service. Forgot who our waitress was but she was super nice and from California- & the only one without green hair lolGreat selection of bourbon, so i look forward to returning for that. However, I had a house Sauvignon blanc, which was good and a $5 happy hour special. My friend had the Pear martini I believe and she ordered 2-said it was delicious.More like a 4.5 but unfortunately can't give those. Highly recommend and Looking forward to returning!

I love Basil’s. If you have gone on a walk on the River Scape downtown you’ve possibly passed a restaurant with a clear beautiful view. That is Basil’s, and the food and beverage menu is equally as amazing. It’s a nice intimate spot with an impressive sized outdoor dining area. When the fountains go off sometimes you can feel the mist. I’ve had their amazing fries. They also have risotto tots that look as beautiful as they are delicious. I’ve had the lobster Mac n cheese multiple times. It’s a very rich dish. The lobster has a lovely Smokey flavor. I also love their glazed salmon salad. It’s a generous size, and the flavor profile is well balanced. I’ve also had their tacos which were so good, and I’ve had their ribs. Their ribs were fall off the bone tender alongside those delicious Parmesan truffle fries. There’s so many more gems on the menu I have to try.

So I've heard people talk about their gluten free menu, they had maybe 4 options. I got a chicken salad. It was good. But they are obviously under staffed like everywhere, and they're putting unexpieranced people on the floor to serve.I wasn't the only person at our table with food allergies and my friend ordered something that had made ZERO mention of the cheese on the item. They then had to send it back and we had to wait EVEN longer for their food then.Seems like it's one of the many restaurants that need to come into reality and pay their employees a living wage so they have employees to serve and help their customers.

Having heard of this place we have not been there mainly due to the whole culinary disruption caused by the whole Covid debacle. Yes it's just a bit tricky to find, don't go too far or you are crossing monument and over the bridge. The entry doors are guarded by large custom made knife and fork handles. The interior is nice with sheet metal, heavy wood and floor to ceiling windows with a great view of the river (awning and outdoor seating with the best view of the river). Nice bar, we had a great bar man, personable and friendly, wonderful selection of draught micro brews for beer lovers, lots of whisky's and cocktails appear to be in high demand. The grub: tasty, good portions, reasonably priced. You can watch it all been cooked in the open kitchen. The atmosphere is relaxing and casual, there were parties in the private rooms with everyone dressed to kill. Definitely a place to visit if you have not already been there.
