We've never had bad Mexican food until today. Extremely poor quality meats in all of our dishes. The rice is mushy and the beans are watery and flavorless. The prices are also higher than other local Mexican restaurants.

The atmosphere was very cute. The restaurant was clean. Our waitress was friendly enough but never offered drink refills.

My wife ordered the molcajete and I had the tacos de birria. Honestly, neither dish had much seasoning at all.

The chorizo in the molcajete was also pretty overcooked—borderline burnt in spots.

I’ve never done this before, but I actually sent my tacos back just asking for them to be seasoned. They came back freshly made, but still underseasoned. The meat basically tasted like plain pot roast out of a crock pot. It was at least tender and moist, just very bland. Not even the consommé was seasoned well, mostly watery and bland.

Also felt a bit overpriced at $23 for 3 tacos de birria, especially when most places around Dayton are closer to the $15-17 range.

My waitress was nice and trying to be accommodating, but I have to ask: where was the quality control? The directions for seasoning the tacos went completely unchecked.

Just a completely disappointing experience. We cannot come back for these reasons.

Absolutely blown away by Sonora Grill. The service was insanely fast from the second we sat down. We never once ran out of chips, salsa, or drinks because they were constantly checking on us without being overbearing.

The staff was super friendly and gave us some amazing recommendations that ended up being spot on. You can tell they actually know the menu and care about the experience.

And the food? Top tier. Seriously some of the best food I’ve had in a while. Great service, great atmosphere, great food. Definitely a hidden gem and 100% worth checking out.

This place is terribly OVERORICED! I & THIS straight from the microwave teaspoon of ground beef dip and it watery and disgusting. My chips were stale! Maybe they can cut back on staff & lower prices. No doecisls except Cinco De Mayo margarita these $15.99 drinks that were strong. I will never comeback here ! That gave a horrible experience of a dining orices for a Mexican place!A gorgeous place like Mode X has 1/2 the price food for much better. Just a mess!

Tonight was my first time. I ordered Tacos Bajas Pescado and a strawberry margarita. The tacos were delicious, and the margarita was fun being topped with a unicorn rubber duck with a flashing light at the bottom of the glass.

Food is okay. Servers practically ignore you. And you also have forced gratuity of 15% after $100, which is easy to hit with 2 people. I’m all for making people pay a tip, especially with massive groups, but 2 people that aren’t needy being ignored all night doesn’t deserve a $20 dollar tip.

We recently visited with a group of four and had a disappointing experience from start to finish.

We ordered a margarita tower, but when it arrived, it didn’t function at all. After multiple attempts to fix it, we opted to switch to individual margaritas. Instead, we were brought pitchers—likely to justify charging for the original order. While we were willing to be flexible, the bigger issue was the wait: we didn’t receive drinks until 45–60 minutes after being seated.

Management did apologize, but the interaction didn’t feel genuine or welcoming. It came across more as damage control than true hospitality.

Food was on the higher-priced side, but we understand current market conditions—no real issue there. However, we were surprised to see gratuity automatically added for a party of four. Given the service delays and overall experience, that felt inappropriate.

As someone with experience in the restaurant industry, I understand mistakes happen. But how they’re handled is what defines the business. Unfortunately, this experience fell short, and it cost what could have been repeat customers.

Tons of choices on the menu. Mexican, steak & seafood choices plus a drink menu. I got the Del Mar Trio, it was delicious. My husband got street tacos and was just as pleased.
