This used to be our family's go to place but the last few times we went, the food wasn't very good, or the order was wrong. Service has been extremely slow. For example last Wednesday evening, it was about 6:30 but not very crowded. There were three of us. My spinach salad was supposed to have chicken (it didn't even though the server took the order correctly) and the spinach had 1 inch stems on it that I pulled off; my son's wrap was not supposed to have tomato ( it did, although again, the server took the order correctly), and my husbands French dip, which was excellent came with chips that seemed to come from the bottom of the batch. Server never verified that what came out of kitchen was correct. I asked the server to deduct the chicken and the bill came with the chicken in it. Without us saying anything, server told us that kitchen is really small and that a bunch of people came in at once. Not sure where all those people were hiding. We were there for an hour and 45 min that night.

Good little tavern/restaurant. Have been twice this week. Excellent mushroom swiss burger and tonite had a huge delicious cut of prime rib. Family friendly for a tavern. I see me eating there often.

Excellent local tavern! The food is to die for and the staff is very courteous. The meals are moderately priced. To be honest, if the food was more costly it wouldn't stop me from eating there. If you ever find yourself on the corner of SR 42 and SR 257 you must stop and have a beer and a bite. I promise, you won't regret it.

We always have great service here by Mari at lunch. Today had a burger; one of the best I've ever had in a restaurant. Great bar food!

One of the worst meals in a long time. 45 minutes to get a hamburger. Ordered medium burnt to a crisp and bone dry. Had to eat it didn't have another 45 minutes to wait. Could not upcharge onion rings as a side but paid 6.99 for a side sized order of frozen onion rings. Others had fries and had to ask for ketchup. Appetizer of poppers had good taste but were cold. Came after 40 minutes of waiting. Staff could not have cared less. Just moved to Jerome Village and we will not be back and certainly will steer others away from here. Sad really close to home.

Cozy spot that is out of the way, but worth the stop. Always good service, and good tasting food. Separate room if needed, for meetings. Full bar with outdoor patio. Worth a stop next time in the area.

I moved into the area and needed a dependable restaurant ,my first experience with them was the chefs choice steak...I requested it as medium rare, when I picked it up it was less than pathetic- lump of over cooked thin beef, but apparently now there's a new chef there because every order I make is absolutely perfect my hot wings are always hot and cooked Through and the gumbo is always just right and everything that I have ever order from there since then is always delicious and amazing. Get the gumbo and ribs...you will be happy!

The service was really bad, but the food was average. We had to wait about an hour (no joke) for the food to get to the table. My grandparents were with us, and my grandfather spoke with the manager and both the manager and the waiter were kind.

The best smashed potatoes ever! Food is amazing! Bleu cheese dressing is the best I have ever eaten as well. We were told by the bar tender...every thing is home made here. They smoke everything right there. We actually ate there 2 days in a row...we were so impressed. WE DEFFINATELTY RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE. Very cozy atmosphere. The serving staff treat you like family. The menu has almost anything you could want. Thank you Tavern 42 for an astonishing experience!

We ate dinner here last Tuesday with a group. We were given a nice, private room. Service was handled by Jess and was excellent, especially considering the size of the group. I had a Ruben sandwich which was excellent. The corned beef was lean, tender, and not at all stringy. And there was plenty of if! Overall it our experience at Tavern 42 was great!

We have been here a few times with our family and tonight they had put their best foot forward... Our server Sam was the best she took our drink order, helped get the kids settled down and even took the time to explain all the different burgers to the boys! We will definitely be returning thanks to this amazing young woman. Might I say the food was just as equal and should be attributed to the 5 stars!
