First time at this place for date night.... we were blown away with the food!!!! Ordered 4 entrees and an appetizer!!! You can say we are foodies for sure! Great service by Jacobe (sorry if I spelled the name wrong) she was amazing along with one of the cooks we were very pleased to meet and let know how great the food was!!! Can not wait to go back for their winter menu and of course another date night!!! Definitely our go to date night spot!!

So first, my wife and I are regulars here. We love the restaurant, and the entire staff are wonderful. Even nights when we think “Maybe we should try a different place” we end up at Backstretch.

To call it a dive bar is unfair. This place has one of the best menus for “bar fare” in the state. It’s Seasonal menu, with fresh ingredients that are delicious. Their deviled eggs are the best out there.

Tonight I had the Italian Pork sandwich and my wife had the Thanksgiving rolls. Both were amazing.

I assure you, stop in, have a meal, you won’t be disappointed.

I (belgian woman) was here with my boyfriend and my Indian friends. The waitress was very rude to them. She ignored them and only wanted to talk to us. My Indian friend ordered a beer and he only got the can. When he asked for a glass (which is the least you can expect when having a good beer) she gave him a plastic cup.
The waitress who brought our food was friendly to the 4 of us.
I never go to this place again cause racism is NOT OK❗️

We've been going to the Backstretch every few months in the five years that we've lived in Delaware. We love the place, but tonight I had what they billed as a "Cuban" sandwich. The description says "pork seasoned with a vibrant blend of traditional Cuban spices..." The only spice I could detect, because it completely overwhelmed everything other than the dill pickles, was CINNAMON. It was not a good sandwich, much less a Cuban Sandwich. Perhaps it was a cinnamon sandwich? Please, either change the recipe or the menu. I'd prefer you change the recipe.
Here are some traditional Cuban spices: : onion, garlic, cumin, oregano, bay leaf, salt, pepper, cilantro, coriander, lime, paprika, Note that cinnamon is not on the list. My Cuban friends tell me the only place in Cuban cuisine that cinnamon is used that they can think of is arroz con leche, or rice pudding.

Food was great. Place was packed, a little of a tight fit with the bar packed but it was a Saturday night. Service was top notch even though they were busy. Menu was great, a lot of interesting choices. Definitely will be going

Came in with my family of six tonight. Ordered the beef stroganoff. Took a small bite and didn't like it. Took another after mixing the sour cream in, but it still didn't taste good. Kids and wife thought the food was okay tonight. The last two times we were in food was okay. For the first time ever I told the waitress who was nice I didn't like it and asked to send it back and get the wings(to go) instead that I know are good. She said it was okay and she understands. When I got the bill it was still on there. I asked the waitress if it was being taken off and she said her manager told her that there was nothing wrong with it and they will not take it off the bill. Over $14 dollars they would rather lose a customer for good. I said okay. Not wanting to argue I tipped the nice waitress who seemed new 20% and left. Never again will my family and I come back here.

Only had drinks, but this place is awesome. Plenty of people but plenty of seating, not crowded at all and we were there on a Saturday night. Extremely pleasant!

Our server was amazing. Extremely kind and attentive. The atmosphere is homey and welcoming. The drinks were good. This is in my top 3 bars of all time for sure. I'm going to do my best to come back even though I live pretty far away.
