The food was really good, a bit messy but still delicious. Setting was really cool and antique. Would come back to try new things!
Today, my partner and I visited The Rutherford Cafe. We were incredibly dissatisfied to say the least. Before arriving we looked at a lot of their reviews, and saw delicious looking food being served on plates. We ordered the Brie Figgin Happy and the Raging Beast sandwiches. We sat at our table and were served our sandwiches in paper to-go bags. The bread was dripping liquid from the moment our food arrived at our table. There was so much liquidy dressing (that we assumed was going to be a creamy dressing) on my partners’ sandwich, they wrapped it in napkins to absorb most of it. By the time we got to eating, the bread had absorbed all the liquid. I wasn’t happy with it so I went back inside the establishment to ask for a refund for my own meal. The young lady who I explained my situation to at the register was less than understanding. She told me that it was “on me” that I “added three liquids” to my sandwich. I asked what the liquids were and she said the Brie cheese, the fig jam, and the balsamic caramelized onions were all liquids. She explained to me that the caramelized onions I substituted were pre marinated and pre caramelized, came in a bag, and were not made in-house. It tasted like they grabbed the onions from a soggy bag and slapped it on top of my sandwich, which would explain the puddly mess. The only good part of this interaction is that she refunded me. We are both veterans of the kitchen industry and this was just terrible. Word to the wise, don’t order the caramelized onion, and be ready to get your meal in a to-go bag, made by a bunch of teens playing on their phones while they cook. There’s no hiding that in an open style kitchen.

Great little spot for lunch in Delaware. Seating’s a bit limited but the sandwiches are wonderful.

Fun decor and atmosphere, but pricier than I expected for a simple breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee.

Small but cozy environment. Food was greasy and REALLY good. Service staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Great place will definitely be back.

Very cool place...
We noticed this sandwich shop the other day and decided to try them out. The decor is nice - not fancy but it does not scream chain either. It is comfortable. The staff was fantastic and super friendly. The prices were good for the quality of the food. They serve Coke products. I had their Ruthaford sandwich which is their version of a Ruben which I really enjoyed. Wifie had a salad which was good. I think this place is worthy of a visit.

Great sandwiches with lots of flavor. Staff was very kind. Only issue was being told after I ordered my sandwich that it would be a 30-40 minute wait...that would have been good to know beforehand.
The Going Clubbing sandwich was amazing! The staff was very nice and it's a small but nice shop to sit for lunch and have a sandwich. You should definitely try it! Yum!

Stopped in with some friends for an early lunch. The atmosphere was welcoming and pristine. A fan of the sumptuous roast beef heard from another fan, I chose the Raging Beast. It contained roast beef, pepper jack, lettuce/tomato, candied pickles, and garlic mayo. I substituted the pretzel bun for a multigrain bread. This combination had amazing texture and flavor, and the beef wasn't too salty, which I approved.

SO DELICIOUS! Got the going clubbing toasted and it was fantastic. My daughter got an egg, cheese and bacon on an English muffin. My wife got the chicken bacon pesto and also said it was so good!

Clean and extremely friendly woth fair prices.. however, no warning on the spiciness of the chicken salad. 2 bites was all I was able to eat before it was just too much for me.

I had the BLT and it was great. I would recommend but be sure to double up on the cups if you get a fountain drink. The “eco” friendly cup is very thin and collapsed on my shoes.
