I wish I could give negative stars. 4 friends and I walked in expecting to have a few drinks but we were greeted with hostility instead simply because we looked young. All 5 of us had valid id’s. We were the only customers in the building which I can now see why that is.

Bartender was incredibly rude as soon as we walked in the door. Greeted us by saying “ you probably won’t be allowed in here “ . When asking for an explanation she just stared at us. Wouldn’t serve us due to one person in the group having an out of state ID with plenty of proof backing up its authenticity. Plus, you would think the business would be desirable considering we were the only ones in the building.

Karen's Cafe is a masterclass in terrible service. The reviews are true, and I think they should fully embrace their vibe, and change the name accordingly. Unwelcoming, rude, and generally unkind. Food is fine. No reason to stop unless you have an angry mom/grandma kink.
There was a single boomer bartender taking care of a pretty small crowd of customers in a way that only a true Karen could pull of the way she did. I immediately felt like my presence unwanted as soon as I walked in the door. Bartender talks almost exclusively to the regulars until she finally decides she'll come over and ask what you want to drink. She didn't give me a menu, so I borrowed one from a table behind. Prior to getting my own menu, I asked if I could borrow a menu from one of the many empty tables behind me and she said "or you could just wait and I'll get you one here in a minute, it won't take me that long." I'm not a terribly impatient person, but she was not coming back anytime soon, so I just grabbed a menu. I ordered two items, that I think were both slightly wrong, which also gave me a giggle. It was just 6 wings and I am pretty sure 6 spicy shrimp, that's why I went with 6 wings to match. The wings, I thought were a dry rub turned out to be the wettest, hottest wings I've had in a long time. Not what I wanted, but pretty tasty! The spicy shrimp I expected based on the menu description was like 6 large spicy fried shrimp, instead it was popcorn shrimp with like sweet and sour sauce on it. When I didn't eat the shrimp, the bartender came over and said "what? You didn't like the shrimp?" I lied.
Well, the wings are good and the service is bad. The price was fairly low compared to chain restaurants. This is the sort of 4 star spot I look for, honestly. Pretty good food and bad service. Puts it just below 4.4/4.5 that it would be if not for Karen. See ya soon, love! ?

Service is always slow if not non existent. Food is mediocre and expensive for quality. Plus they always seem to be out of things. Not ever on our list to go to after giving multiple chances.

My work ordered a few meals from there the other day. We were highly disappointed.. the eggrolls and pretzel bites were burnt and hard… the chicken sandwich was thin and awful. I am not sure if this is just carry out orders or what because when we eat inside it’s always good but the few times we have gotten delivery the food is not up to par at all.

Excellent watering hole located right next to the railroad tracks. 4 trains ? rolled by during my visit. Bartender was very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent! My favorite part was the beer, Keno, pull-tabs and various other lottery games! Kept me busy and left me busted when I walked out. Overall a great time and I'll be visiting again soon!! 5 ✨'s
NON WELCOMING and AWKWARD service. My mom and I came from out to town to see a friend and get out hair done. We wanted somewhere to eat before heading home. Something different.The lady who waited on us was the only server/bartender there. There were what I'd assume were the regulars at the bar and then us. We found ourselves a seat and then the lady came to us and got our drinks. She seemed very irritated and very bothered by us being there. Like we were interrupting her social time. She took our order and just put off this really unfriendly vibe. This waitress gave us the feeling like we needed to leave.The food was great!! Props to the cook!!

Food is Way to expensive for what you receive, not to mention it was just okay flavor wise. Staff very friendly just. No Bang for your $Buck$ though. Well the Bangs like being Held up in a Robbery. Kid's meal's are a better purchase at McDonald's and probably get more food. That explains why there's no crowd waiting to get in.
