Excellent food, excellent and friendly service with staff going out of their way to help disabled customer, and very comfortable rooms with beautiful wood tables.

I got lobster bisque which tasted worse than soup from can, brought to me barely warm, very thick and it's all covered in oil, don't waste your money.
My husband got tuna which was ok and I got chicken breast with mashed potato. Chicken was hot on the outside but barely warm inside, mashed potatoes from the package. $65 +12 tip completely wasted - we won't be back.

We stopped here on our way through to visit our friend and catch up. Not only was the food amazing, but Heather made the experience so fun and enjoyable. We all unanimously agreed we will be back at some point to eat here again. My only recommendation is that a sign be posted directing guests to the restaurant. It is on a golf course and we were confused, since we had never been here before. We had to call the restaurant to get directions to the front door of the restaurant. It is to the right and around the corner of the main building with the red door when you pull in.
The seasonal cocktails were immaculate and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the calamari, as it is strips and not rings, as well as the strip steak with truffle frites and au jus sauce. My friend had the Bruschetta burger and my spouse had the Mac and cheese. We will definitely be back!

Hidden gem. People really need to find out about this place. Whenever I go it seems not many people are there and I don't know why. Good service, good food. And the place is sexy.

Black River Tavern is always a good choice. The food is very good. The servers are pleasant and considerate, and it's a comfortable atmosphere. Only slight drawback is when you get pizza it does take awhile for it to come out, but it is worth the wait.

The menu offers a great selection of options from basic to somewhat exotic. The tuna cocktail appetizer was our favorite for the evening. The salmon was served with a sweet sauce poured over the top. It would be better with the sauce served on the side. The walleye was hiding in a thick batter but was tasty. Service was excellent. We'll be back to try other dishes.
The food was not good at all, besides the appetizer. Steak was missing the sauce, that was then given to me for me to put on instead of being cooked in it or poured onto when the steak was actually hot. My wife got the salmon and ended up getting food poising from it! Food was just plain and cold. Will not be going back with is unfortunate as we had high hopes.
Just looking to try something different in Loarain County and came across them on Google. It was labor day but they were open so we headed out.
I had been there before as a golfer for an outing a few years ago. Can't remember what we had so really a new experience. Service was a bit touch and go as the one server was tied up a while with a group so the hostess filled in. Wasn't horrible, just a bit disjointed.
We started with the smoked gouda spinach fondue. Absolutely fantastic! The gouda was a nice twist on it and it was serviced with very thin and crispy tortilla chips. Even though they had a propensity to break under the weight, it was nice not to have something too doughy detracting from the dip.
We both opted for a Golden Bear burger. Burger with their in-house brisket and an A1 aioli, onion straws on a Brioche bun. Love it was served with a tee tooth pick. We initially were told they were out of brisket, but that was reversed.
The aioli was really good, unexpected. I would only say it lacked a punch overall. It sorted of muddled together in a meaty bite. Not bad but I think an acid is in order to cut through a little. Pickle on the side helped but pickled red onion or sweet and spicy pickle on board, maybe. Good twisty, thick fries like curly fries that unraveled due to their size.
What a great space! Gorgeous stone all around with natural wood tables. Don't let the fact it's at a golf course stop you. Lots of interesting menu items and reasonable for well prepared food in a nice environment.
Parking: Just park out front and head to the right of the clubhouse at ground level.
