Staff moved quietly, but always knew what we needed.
Best Japanese in the area. Great staff.
Even better than we expected.
Had an amazing meal here! I started with the Ikageso Shichimiyaki (squid tentacles), which were super tasty and came with an incredible dipping sauce—definitely a must-try. For my entree, I had the Dragon Roll, which was a solid 10/10, packed with flavor. I also tried the Sea Urchin Roll, which had a strong ocean taste, but I’m glad I finally got to experience it. The Japanese Curry with rice and fried pork was another 10/10—the curry was rich and flavorful, and the pork was perfectly crispy. To top it off, they surprised me with a birthday dessert, and everything from the fresh pineapple to the ice cream was perfect. Amazing food and great experience!
My boyfriend from Japan came to visit me so I had to take him to Japan West! Our sushi had wasabi on it when we asked for no wasabi, and the sushi chef graciously offered to remake it. We declined, and ate it with the wasabi (which was still delicious!!). The sushi chef then made us a complementary plate of sushi with hearts in it :,). Staff was very friendly and my boyfriend said the sushi was better than Japan!
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere… Things I’ve come to expect at Japan West. That tradition continues!
Japan West is my favorite restaurant.

Japanese style sushi in Findlay, Gochisousamadeshita! Service was welcoming, friendly and attentive. I was in for an early dinner, I sat at the sushi bar. The snack mix appetizer was a little unusual, but I appreciate the rice crackers and Chex while waiting for sushi.
Cold sake house sake is Cho Shiku Bai Ginjo, very enjoyable on a hot summer day.
Sushi was perfect, beautifully presented, fresh and flavorful.

We were actually really excited to come here since the reviews were consistently great. When walking in it didn't seem like the AC was that high but I think we got used to it. Now, I did like that the server came by with towels to wash our hands with and then we were given Chex mix as the table snack? Lol Our server was attentive until I told her I didn't like my ramen. Now I understand some restaurants don't house make their ramen but my ramen tasted like a Maruchan package you can get for $1 at the store and overall didn't eat more than two bites, definitely not $15 worth. When I told her I didn't like it she said "oh I'm sorry" and walked away while I was talking to ask her to take it back (this pissed me off) as I wasn't offered to get something else or anything. My husband ordered nigiri which wasn't bad he said the quality of the fish could've been better for the price per piece of fish not order, salmon was kinda too fishy if you get my drift. The two rolls we got were great but overall, wouldn't go back- there's not many options for special rolls and definitely not worth the price and you'll still have to pay for your food if you send it back :)

Restaurantji Recommends
The sushi rolls were good and I’d recommend those. The hibachi however was not at all. Everything was off, burnt like and tasted weird. I have been to multiple hibachi restaurants all over the country and never experienced food like this. I know every place is different and has their own take on it but never have I found one so terrible. And for what it was it was very overpriced and not get me wrong I have no problem dropping $100 on good food but this was so pricy and not worth even 1/4 of the price in my opinion.

We stopped by this restaurant on our way home from Detroit to Columbus. It was a very busy Saturday night, so the wait was a little bit longer than expected. However when the food finally came, each minute of waiting paid off. Very authentic and delicious Japanese food. My dinner box has very good variety. When they serve your tempora with smashed white radish, you know it's a good Japanese restaurant. My husband had curry rice with tonkatsu. The curry is every rich in flavor, and he did not share his tonkatsu with me, so I don't know how that tastes like. (Must be too good to share?)The eating experience is quite enjoyable (except the waiting part), but it did not stop here. It was until Sunday and after we got back to Columbus that I realized I left my purse at Japan West. I left Japan West a message, and they replied once they received it. And the staff was nice enough to mail it back to me, so I don't have to go through all the work to replace my driver's license and bank cards. Thank you so much, Japan West. This doesn't mean I encourage you to leave your purse at a restaurant, but Japan West, they have the hospitality to go extra milage to provide you a real GOOD service. I like it much.

Very slow service. Left early hungry because we were tired of waiting on stuff. Want to support local but honestly pretty disappointed.
