We stopped by this restaurant on our way home from Detroit to Columbus. It was a very busy Saturday night, so the wait was a little bit longer than expected. However when the food finally came, each minute of waiting paid off. Very authentic and delicious Japanese food. My dinner box has very good variety. When they serve your tempora with smashed white radish, you know it's a good Japanese restaurant. My husband had curry rice with tonkatsu. The curry is every rich in flavor, and he did not share his tonkatsu with me, so I don't know how that tastes like. (Must be too good to share?)The eating experience is quite enjoyable (except the waiting part), but it did not stop here. It was until Sunday and after we got back to Columbus that I realized I left my purse at Japan West. I left Japan West a message, and they replied once they received it. And the staff was nice enough to mail it back to me, so I don't have to go through all the work to replace my driver's license and bank cards. Thank you so much, Japan West. This doesn't mean I encourage you to leave your purse at a restaurant, but Japan West, they have the hospitality to go extra milage to provide you a real GOOD service. I like it much.

Very slow service. Left early hungry because we were tired of waiting on stuff. Want to support local but honestly pretty disappointed.

Beautiful place. Wait staff were great and the food was delicious. The prices aren't actually as steep as people say, as my girlfriend and I were both able to get appetizers, sushi rolls, entrees, and a dessert to share for only $75 before tip. Great prices for the experience you're getting. I recommend their curry and California roll.

My wife and I had a date night and chose Japan West to have sushi. Service was fast enough, but not rushed. The sushi was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and wanted to make sure everything was excellent. Will return again.

While in town for a business trips this resturant was recommended by several coworkers. I never would have thought to get sushi in Findlay Ohio but Japan West is great! The server was very hospitable and friendly, the chef checked in on every table and had lengthy conversations, and the resturant was very clean. The resturant is conveniently on the downtown strip near to several business and hotels. The food was competitively priced for the area and a great change of pace from chain restaurants. Would happily recommend for business meals, dates, or pickup!

Amazing place! Service is always kind and accommodating. Both hibachi and regular dinner are good, especially the seafood options like sushi or the Hawaiian fish special. The Hawaiian fish special has different house made sauces depending on what the fishes are, and they always pair so nicely. Their tempura dishes are good too, with a nice thin breading.

Was told by Japanese acquaintances that this place was the place to go to in Northwest Ohio, and it is certainly a gem of the place. Had sushi, and Tamago sushi was awesome. The chef told me that they make the egg part at the location, which is not something that many Japanese restaurants do these days. Had a wonderful lunch thanks to the chef. FYI, this place is operated by a Japanese corporation that wanted to provide the region with good quality Japanese food, and I certainly believe it.

The music playing constantly - and very loudly - was abysmal for a japanese restaurant (imagine a hotel lobby - that kind of music). On top of this, it honestly had 0 decor. Maybe one painting here and there, that's it. The room they seated us in felt like I was being interrogated by my own friends and family, or an office. The fried rice had no flavor at all - which was intentional on tge chef's part, and depressing. Their sushi menu was massive, but it was basically columns on an excel spreadsheet. It felt like the cooks weren't confident enough to season their own food, so they gave us a "parmessan bottle" filled with seasoning, and soy sauce. In Japanese culture, adding condiments to a dish is honestly an insult to the chef - so having bland food served was exceptionally depressing. If the decor and music were nice, I could overlook these flaws easily, as the atmosphere is just as important as the food. But the design of the restaurant seemed heavily focused on businessmen and women who are going to give presentations while they eat on a company's budget (which explains the high prices). As a guest, I felt completely and utterly unwelcome just from the atmosphere alone, almost like I was confined to an office.

Not a bad meal, but a bit pricey for the class of food served. Staff was very friendly. Hibachi was fun.
