The Mad Batter (Formerly Cake & Icing)

I arrived at the bakery and the ladies seemed to have a bit of an attitude at first which was unprofessional. When they realized that I, as well as the other 4 customers in the store, were there for the first time ever, they seemed to sweeten up a little bit. Anyhow, I ordered my son’s smash cake on 6/27. His first birthday is 7/22 so we scheduled a 10AM pickup on 7/19. I asked for a chocolate smash cake with black and white checkered icing and for his name to be written on it in blue. I went in to pick the cake up and they said it was not ready for me. In fact, they were just starting on it. Keep in mind, they closed at 1PM, so they had 3 hours at best to get the cake done for me. They had my order for 22 days so this should not have happened. Shortly after leaving, she called me and asked if she could wait until Monday to do the cake (they’re not even open on Monday, mind you) because she wanted to order a sugar sheet to wrap the cake instead of her having to do the icing by hand. Her reasoning behind this was that the oven was on since she was baking cakes and the humidity was causing the icing on my cake to melt. Why you would have ovens on while trying to ice cakes is beyond me. That just seems like a lack of experience and planning on her end. I said no, I want the cake done today as we planned and I want the icing done by hand as we talked about. She said, “okay, I’ll keep messing with it, but it’s not going to look as good.” I received the cake shortly before they closed. You can see where the icing was melting a bit but more importantly, you can see where she really rushed it instead of taking her time. I am glad I got the cake I asked for, even though it looks pretty sloppy. I would not return to this place given all of the trouble I had, though. I was really worried there for a bit that I wouldn’t even have a cake for his birthday, so I’m glad they came through, although it was really by the skin of her teeth that she came through for me on this one. If I had to describe the people here, I would say: unprofessional, procrastinating, lacking willingness to take accountability, no time management nor organizational skills, and they rush on the quality of their products. As I said, I’m glad I received the cake, but there are too many other places to go that take pride in their work. I would much rather take my business elsewhere from here on out.

We had the blueberry lemon donuts earlier today, and they were heavenly! The lady working the register was an absolute doll! The cupcakes are so moist and perfect! 10 out of 10 definitely recommend!

Friendly service and the flavor is amazing!

I needed an oddly specific design on my cake, and they nailed it! The cake tastes great, the filling is good (we requested blueberry), and the buttercream is rich. They also answered messages fairly quickly to help the process. I hadn't been in their shop before but thought it was the cutest when we picked up the cake. All of their donuts and other treats look great too.

We recently ordered a buckeye cake, raspberry cupcakes and also cookies & cream cupcakes. All were fantastic! Cake was so moist and frosting was delicious. Everyone loved it all. You can’t go wrong with this bakery. The donuts are delicious as well. Thank you!

We’ve had the mad batter make cookies for my daughter’s birthday twice now and each time was an amazing experience! I told them what theme and gave them the reins and we were VERY happy with the cookies both times! Very very nice people!

Outstanding bakery! Desserts are delicious, the owner is very polite, and helpful. The store was very clean and had beautiful decor. I will be coming back 😊

The shop is absolutely adorable. They openly display their goods so cute!!! You can smell deliciousness as soon as you start to pull up to the shop.

I contacted them for a Harry Potter cake on Thursday to have it ready by Friday afternoon and even with two weddings they had to get ready for the owner, Erica said they could do it. It was ready as promised and my 30 year old daughter loved it. Thank you!! I would highly recommend ?
