We actually did the lantern festival here and it was beautiful!!! I pushed a stroller, so if you wanted to know, it is very flat, but most of it is packed limestone, so a couple of places it pulled my wheels a little bit, but not enough to cause an issue or deter from our experience. This place in general is beautiful and I would like to come back during the day to explore the inside.

This restaurant is different in a good way. Imagine a big old restored home converted into a fine quaint, nicely decorated restaurant. The illuminated granite countertops on the bar are unique! The cocktail I had was delicious. To top it off, the restaurant is flanked by vineyards and awesome wineries!

Very nice people. Beautiful place with lots of history. The bar is just gorgeous with a large inventory of good bottles. I was impressed with the bourbon selection. Awesome bar keeps and interesting cocktail choices. The option to sit at tables out in the lawn/gardens area was very relaxing.

What a great find on a country road in Thompson Ohio! We discovered the Black Door Tavern while we were visiting the Red Eagle Distillery, right next to door! Which, by the way was a great distillery, in a beautifully restored barn. The bar in the tavern is upstairs and definitely where you want to be! First off, it’s beautiful. Secondly, there’s a fascinating story behind the building itself. The drinks were amazing and the food was even better. The small plates were exceptional. The bang- bang shrimp was outstanding, I’m craving it as I write about it. Definitely worth the drive along with many beautiful wineries to check out along the way.

Love the waitress in the bourbon room. Has a lot of history of the place. Not your average bourbon-tasting room. Definitely a must see.

Exceptional great food & service. We love the area and the atmosphere here. It is must do, very cool and eclectic… Highly recommend a visit.
Nice array of app & meal menu options that were excellently prepared. Cocktail options were equally varied & tasty. The upstairs bar provided a neat atmosphere & view. All the servers were friendly & attentive.
Black Door Tavern has become our favorite place when we’re looking for upscale small plates and old fashion inspired drinks. The beautifully restored farmhouse creates an intimate setting while the friendly staff and knowledgeable bartenders provide a wonderful service. The chef is a true artist who is always creating new menu items.
Nice quiet place. Good food and real cool atmosphere.
