“Meeting up with friends in Youngstown for the afternoon, we were hungry and looking for good food and a safe place to spend time together. (Both couples were in town from different neighboring states.) The Avalon Downtown came recommended on this site and by locals we spoke with. Both of our pizzas were tasty; lots of spinach on one, the other prepared half and half as requested. The signature chewy crust was darn good! While we felt pretty safe because we were able to sit at a table up front, behind us, every table was occupied and full, as was the bar seating, with nary a mask in sight. That said, coming in from a neighboring state, I never was able to determine the current Ohio state guidelines for capacity in restaurants and bars. If we find ourselves back in Youngstown, we wouldn't hesitate to go back to the Avalon Downtown! The pizza is terrific!!“

“Excellent service great atmosphere.Great food. Although the Elk was ruined by peppercorns that made my tender tasty steak unbearably crunchy. I had srcape them off as much as I could. I'd recommend it to anyone, just not the peppercorns.“
