Agave & Rye Grandview

Honestly one of the weirdest experiences at a restaurant I've ever had. Waited 10 solid minutes after being seated for anyone to bring us waters. Were never asked if we wanted additional beverages. Upon ordering were told that there wasn't any queso in the building. Then there wasn't any guacomole. We ordered chips and salsa and the server came back and indicated they didn't have the salsa we asked for or one of the other appetizers we requested. Upon ordering tacos half of them couldn't be made because they didn't have the ingredients for them. Once we ordered we waited 20 minutes with empty water cups and the food finally came. It was about 70% correct. Received water refills and waited on several ingredients to be delivered to the table which took another 15 minutes. All in all it took about 90 minutes to get in and out, we were visited by the service team 4 times in that 90 minutes, the food was “ok” at best and there wasn't an apology at any point from the team. The restaurant should have been closed. Complete waste of a dinner and I'll never go back.

Agave was understaffed when we dined making table and food service a bit slow. Hopefully that is not a normal situation. Chicken and pork meats were tender and moist. Mac and cheese was unpleasant. The shells were overcooked, cheese was lacking in amount and flavor. The tacos are so filled it is difficult to distinguish flavors. The tacos lacked spice and seasoning. The bbq sauce was tasty.

Food taste was delicious. Our party of 4 had 12 tacos of various items and one delicious , hot and fast starter. The indgredients and toppings seemed very fresh. However, all of the meats were lukewarm to cold, hence the "fair" grade. Service was spotty (they were trying), but the restaurant was not busy and the bartender, hostess and runner were all taking orders, and delivering food. We were there for 2 hrs with a start time of 5:30 and a reservation that really wasn't needed at that hour. We didn't mind, but not sure if we could have been accomidated if we wanted to move a little faster. Drink and app and food orders were taken in a timely manner, but after that service seemed to slow and possibly fall apart. One of the tacos was an incorrect order. The menu seems fun with lots of choices and ingredients, but may be too large for the service provided. By the time we left many parties were lined up awaiting tables and the restaurant was about 1/2 full. Would return to try again.

Made reservations for 7 people on a Sunday evening, celebrating a birthday. Were promptly seated. Modest crowd, maybe 1/4 full. From that point on it was torture. They were seriously understaffed. Drink service, food service was extremmmmely slow. Wait staff would disappear for 15-20 minutes without checking on our table. Discussed the very slow service with manager and I was told many of their scheduled staff called off and they were doing their best. One of our group ordered a second beer and it never came. One round of drinks and dinner took 2 1/2 hours, much of it waiting for service. Food when it finally arrived was good. Had to pay for parking. It could be a nice and fun place, hopefully the service issue gets resolved.

This is our favorite place to take visitors to eat. It never disappoints. The atmosphere is quirky and the food is to die for. Hubby and I like to walk from home on the spur of the moment for their tacos. Great service. Just an overall fun place to go. (And there is a Jeni's a couple of shops away if you have room for dessert!)

They were very understaffed - sat in the bar area. It took 45 minutes for our group of 6 to get beverages from the time we sat. Food came at 75 minutes from the time we sat. Also the temperature was freezing- felt like the a/c was on. Food was decent but will never go back. Would have left if it was just myself and my spouse. We saw others get up and walk out because nobody came to help them. Very disappointing. The “hostess or manager” spent most of her time on her phone instead of helping.

Despite that my first time experience was on a Taco Tuesday, this business exceeded my expectations.

At first there were apprehensions based on location - Grandview Avenue is a “popular area”. But despite any & all possible negative outcomes, parking was easy, service was quick & friendly, the menu was unique & flavorful, and between food & drinks for two adults the price was very reasonable.

Let’s just say that I’ll be thinking about this place next time there’s a Taco Tuesday!

Fun and ecclectic atmosphere and GREAT food and service. Huge portions and really good prices. Mackenzie was our server and she was awesome. We ordered:
Quesa-Birria Irish Nachos 10/10!!!
The Chopped Chicken Salad 10/10!!!

The Loveshack Taco 10/10!!!
Definitely recommend trying this place out.

Food was good and wait. Staff was very friendly. Unfortunately the parking lot experience was not pleasant and will keep us from going back.

It was a bad night for service. Our server was maxed out, evidently the manager bailed and left the place understaffed on a Friday night. We made reservations but when we showed up, we still had to wait 15 minutes.

The atmosphere is fun but the food was boring to bland. The tacos are more show than delicious — had the vegetarian options. You are safe if you just want a beer and chips/salsa for happy hour.
