TLDR: no need to visit NYC for spectacular food. Mid-week, first time visit. Due to its popularity, wait staff was a bit overtaxed, but super friendly and helpful. Met a group of friends there. La tavola (table) that we were seated at was perfect in size and shape, an unusual oval affair. The glass of wine I ordered was far better than similarly priced wines at other restaurants. The olive oil for the bread was heavenly. A delicious toast with cheese appetizer whose name I forgot was also delicious. Lots of specials available, but I skipped them and ordered the Bolognese, which is a dish known to be devilishly hard to get right. Frankly, I'm no expert, but this was one of the most delectable things I've ever eaten, and I've been around, including to Bologna. The pasta was hand made and cut and cooked to perfection, which was impressive, but the sauce was one of the most mind blowing concoctions I could imagine. My table mates were also impressed, each of us ordering something different. From the outside, you'd probably not guess that this is a gourmet restaurant, but it is. Also they only cook with locally sourced and organically grown primary ingredients. There was no annoying music, and the noise level was low enough that the five of us could easily communicate.

Very limited menu choice. Food was decent but not out of this world. I was overcharged for their daily special and the portion was tiny for the $40 they charged. Do not order items without prices on their menu! They also overcharged for the bottle of wine by $5. Waiter was not friendly, way too matter of fact. Tiramusu was good but could use an infusion a liqueur like they do in Italy. Atmosphere is cozy but very loud when full of guests.

Would never go back because they charge a 'hidden' 3% fee for using your credit card. This is punitive to nearly all customers (who carries cash these days?) and is a form of double dipping: La Tavola gets to claim credit-card fees as a business expenses (lowering taxes) while the customer is the one actually paying the 3%. It's a total scam and the only way to deal with these anti-customer behaviors is to walk yourself somewhere else. I say the fee is 'hidden' because you have to carefully read the entire menu to see the fine print. Additionally, they charge the 3% fee if you use your debit card, which incurs no fees.

If the food was excellent, I might look the other way, but the food is average.. less good than comparable restaurants (e.g., Marcella's, Nicola, Guiseppes, etc). Service was great and atmosphere was nice; the home-made gnocci and desert were stellar. BUT - principally - what is the thinking that occurs when an establishment determines to push additional fees back on the consumer? What is the conversation that takes place?

I was a restaurant owner and know that margins are thin; what that should evoke is the desire to maximize the customer experience through fairness, respect, and quality of offerings. We eat out a lot and have many choices as to where to spend our hard-earned money in the Columbus area; when restaurants behave punitively towards customers, we take out money elsewhere.

What a PERFECT experience!!! 5 of us gathered on a FREEZING January evening last Sunday. Just walking in the place made you feel nothing but comfort!! Our table was ready. We started with a round of drinks. We were presented with the nightly specials as well as the main menu. We started with the very delicious Burrata !! Each person chose a different entree from the Gnocci al Forno, Chicken Parmesan , Pasta Bolognese, tiramisu and gelato We all sampled each. AMAZING. Our server, Kaleb was ON POINT !!! He provided some of the best service I have had anyplace for quite a long time. We shall return VERY soon. This could very well be my new favorite Italian restaurant !!!!! Thank you for being here !!!

The food was unreal. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the duck ravioli was out out of this world. Everything was the killshot. Todd was an incredible server.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
La Tavola is hands down one of the best Italian dining experiences I’ve had in Columbus.

From the moment we walked in, our hostess Alyssa was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. Her recommendations were spot-on and truly elevated our entire evening.

The food was outstanding. We had the ravioli, the seafood pasta, and the meat salad, which was absolutely to die for. Every dish was perfectly balanced, fresh, and clearly made with care. You can tell the chef takes real pride in the food—tonight’s execution was flawless.

Honestly, this may be the best Italian food in Columbus, Ohio. Exceptional service, phenomenal chef, and an unforgettable meal. We’ll absolutely be back.

Fantastic food! The hot burrata appetizer, pork shoulder pasta, and octopus pasta specials were the best Italian we have had in a while. Cozy restaurant. Great service. Will be going back!

Walked in on a Thursday evening around 7PM without a reservation, and they were completely booked. Between the two sides of the restaurant, there is probably about 60 seats.

Luckily, some space was opening up at the bar. The bartender Randy was super helpful and chatty. Space wasn’t too loud, could still have conversations.

Parking was not good. It’s a small lot that’s shared with another business. Just drove around to find some street parking and got lucky.

Food ratings:
- Beet and Ricotta Salad - 5/5 so fresh and very delightful.
- Pasta Bolognese - 4.9/5 the freshly made pasta was worth the wait, sauce was light, wish there was a bit more meat and maybe a sprinkle of basil or oregano.
- Tiramisu - 3.75/5 huge slice! Just a bit on the sweet side and the cake layer on the bottom was a bit too soggy.

Would return again! Just remember to make a reservation ;)

Columbus is not really an Italian restaurant town, but this is one of the better options if you’re looking for an intimate experience. Not a place for big groups or rowdy children, this is for date nights or adult gatherings. Food is good, and service is efficient and unobtrusive.
